Chapter 211 No More Bullying the Girl
Chapter 211 No More Bullying the Girl
"I..." Yu Yuetong opened her mouth, but didn't know how to explain.
"Heh." Qin Reng sneered, "You say you're not familiar with her? Then what about dancing and drinking with her at the bar yesterday?"
He took a step closer, his eyes sharp as a knife. "Yu Yuetong, do you think I'm easy to fool?"
Yu Yuetong felt as if her heart had been crushed by a giant hand, the pain almost unbearable. She knew she was powerless to defend herself; any explanation would seem pale and futile at this moment.
"Think what you want." Yu Yuetong closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "If you want a divorce, I'll grant your wish."
After she finished speaking, she turned and left. The rain blurred her vision, and cold water droplets slid down her cheeks, mingling with her tears, and into her mouth, spreading a bitter taste.
Qin Reng grabbed her wrist with such force that he almost crushed her bones. Yu Yuetong was forced to stop, but she didn't turn around.
"Divorce?" Qin Reng's voice was terrifyingly low. "You really want to get rid of me that badly?"
Yu Yuetong didn't answer, but tried hard to break free from his hand.
"Yu Yuetong!" Qin Reng roared, turning her around to face him. "Let me tell you, it's not that easy!"
He roughly pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly as if trying to meld her into his own body. Yu Yuetong was startled and struggled desperately, but he held her even tighter.
"What are you doing! Let me go!" Yu Yuetong shouted in his arms, her voice trembling with tears.
Qin Reng didn't let go. Instead, he lowered his head and said through gritted teeth in her ear, "Even if we're going to get a divorce, I'll be the one to bring it up! You have no right to!"
His warm breath brushed against Yu Yuetong's ear, carrying a tremor and a hint of resentment. Yu Yuetong froze, stopped struggling, and let him hold her.
The rain intensified, blurring everything around her. Yu Yuetong felt her heart pounding so hard it was about to burst. She didn't know what Qin Reng meant by those words, but she sensed that things weren't as simple as she had imagined.
Just then, a cell phone rang, breaking the awkward atmosphere. Qin Reng released her, took out his phone, glanced at the caller ID, and frowned.
“It’s Grandma on the phone,” he said coldly, then answered the call.
Yu Yuetong stood to the side, vaguely hearing Old Madam Qin's voice on the other end of the phone, seemingly asking why they hadn't returned yet. Qin Reng gave a few brief replies and hung up.
"Let's go, Grandma wants to see us." After saying that, Qin Reng walked first to the car parked by the roadside.
Yu Yuetong hesitated for a moment, but ultimately followed. Inside the car, the atmosphere was unusually heavy. Neither of them spoke; only the windshield wipers whirred incessantly, making a monotonous sound.
As the car drove towards the Qin family's old residence, Yu Yuetong's heart sank deeper and deeper. She knew that an even bigger storm awaited her.
The car slowly drove into the Qin family's old residence. Through the rain, the brightly lit villa stood out starkly. Yu Yuetong took a deep breath, trying to remain calm.
"Go in." Qin Reng's voice sounded weary.
The two entered the living room one after the other. Old Madam Qin was sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea in her hand. When she saw them come in, a smile appeared on her face.
"Why are you two so soaked?" the old lady asked with concern. "Come and sit down, have a cup of hot tea to warm yourselves up."
Qin Reng walked over and sat down expressionlessly, taking the tea offered by the old lady but not drinking it. Yu Yuetong also walked over, thanked her softly, took the teacup, and carefully took a sip.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" The old lady looked at the two of them, a hint of inquiry in her eyes. "Did you have a fight?"
Qin Reng was silent for a moment before speaking, "No, Grandma."
Yu Yuetong quickly echoed, "No...no."
The old lady smiled, her gaze sweeping back and forth between the two of them before finally settling on Yu Yuetong. "Girl, you speak."
Yu Yuetong's heart tightened, knowing she couldn't avoid it, so she had no choice but to bite the bullet and say, "Grandma, we...we're fine, there was just a misunderstanding, but it's been cleared up now."
"A misunderstanding?" The old lady raised an eyebrow. "What misunderstanding? That you two would come back soaked in the rain together?"
Yu Yuetong opened her mouth, but didn't know how to answer. Should she say that Qin Reng had misunderstood her relationship with Ji Momo, which was why he was angry?
"Grandma, I'll handle this." Qin Reng spoke up in time to help Yu Yuetong out of the predicament. "Don't worry about it."
The old lady gave Qin Reng a deep look, then glanced at Yu Yuetong, and sighed. "You two are just too young. You quarrel over such a small thing. The most important thing between husband and wife is mutual trust and understanding."
She paused, then continued, "Girl, it was a last resort that made you marry Areng. I know you feel wronged. Areng has a bad temper, and sometimes his words and actions might not be entirely appropriate, but don't take it to heart. From now on, you two should live a good life together, think more about each other, and don't worry your grandmother, okay?"
Yu Yuetong's nose tingled, and her eyes reddened. She knew the old lady meant well, but the problems between her and Qin Reng were far more complicated than the old lady imagined.
"Grandma, I understand," Yu Yuetong said, her voice choked with emotion. "Don't worry."
Qin Reng remained silent, simply sipping his tea. The old lady's gaze fell upon him again, carrying a hint of warning.
"Aren, you too, you're not allowed to bully the girl anymore," the old lady said sternly. "She's a good child. If you make her angry again, I'll punish you!"
Qin Reng put down his teacup and said calmly, "I understand, Grandma."
The old lady's gaze swept back and forth between the two of them, as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she sighed and waved her hand. "Alright, go take a shower and change your clothes, don't catch a cold."
The two responded in unison and went upstairs. Back in her room, Yu Yuetong collapsed weakly onto the bed, feeling utterly exhausted.
Qin Reng walked into the bathroom, and soon the sound of running water filled the air. Yu Yuetong listened to the sounds from the bathroom, her mind racing. She didn't know what Qin Reng was thinking, nor did she know what they should do.
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and Qin Reng emerged wrapped in a towel, his hair still wet, water droplets sliding down his chest, glistening in the light. Yu Yuetong instinctively looked away, unable to bear looking at him.
Qin Reng walked to the bedside, sat down, and looked at her with a complicated expression.
"You..." he began, but then didn't know how to continue.
Yu Yuetong took a deep breath, raised her head, and looked directly into his eyes. "President Qin, I think we need to have a serious talk."
