Chapter 160 New House Introduction
Chapter 160 New House Introduction
From the outside, Song Laoer's new home is a large house covering two acres, with black tiles and white walls and tall walls.
The main door is on the right, about 1.6 meters wide, with three steps made of large bluestone slabs. On the left side of the steps is a small slope, which is convenient for carts to go up and down.
The main gate is a pair of red-painted doors, with only the left and right doors equipped with symmetrical auxiliary rings, which are two ferocious-looking bronze lion heads.
A finger-thick door knocker hung from the lion's nose. The door had no extra decorations, no door nails, no paintings, no carvings. On both sides of the door were newly pasted red couplets.
Above the gate hangs a plaque with the name of the Song residence. Above the plaque is a painting of auspicious clouds. Above that is the eaves, and under the eaves hang two big red lanterns.
There are two corridors on the left and right sides of the door. The corridor on the left leads directly to the residential area, and the corridor on the right leads directly to the outdoor pavilion.
Opposite the gate is a wide courtyard paved with ordinary stone bricks. On the left side of the courtyard is a moon gate leading to the residential area.
On the right side of the yard is a black-tiled wooden pavilion that can accommodate three tables. There are long stone benches on all four sides of the pavilion. Now some villagers are sitting there chatting after visiting the new house.
Opposite the main gate is a moon gate, which is convenient for vehicles and horses to enter and exit. Next to the moon gate are the dining room, kitchen and bathroom.
The doors to the dining room and kitchen are both floor-to-ceiling doors, and the entrances are facing the main door. There is a window on the left side of the dining room, and a window on the right side of the kitchen.
Pushing open the door of the dining room and going inside, there is an extra-long dining table with long wooden benches of equal length placed in front and back. There are also two windows facing the backyard, and a back door in the upper right corner, which can be used to go out to the backyard or to the toilet.
Next to the dining room is the kitchen. The two are connected, but there is no door installed.
Entering the kitchen, the kitchen space is very large, and the cooking area is set up on the side facing the backyard.
There are several stoves in a row, from left to right, for steaming food. On this stove, several newly bought steamers are stacked together, and then there is the stove with a super large clay pot, which is for making soup.
Next is the stove for the iron pan for cooking, and there are two of them. The wall above the stove has a whole row of windows facing the backyard, so you can enjoy the scenery outside the window while cooking.
Then there is the big stove for boiling water for bathing. Once the water is boiled, you can take it to the bathroom next door to take a bath.
Next to the big stove is a water tank. Above the water tank is a faucet that connects to stream water. Next to the water tank is a place for washing vegetables and other things.
In the middle of the kitchen, there is a cooking table as long as the stove, on which are placed cutting boards, knives, and various kitchen utensils.
There is a whole row of cabinets under the cooking table, where you can put some rarely used tableware and miscellaneous kitchen supplies.
The rice jar is placed in the left corner of the kitchen door, and firewood is placed in the right corner of the door.
The bathroom is located past the kitchen. It is very simple, with a window in the front and back. There are two bathtubs in it, one for Song Laoer and his wife, and one for Song Sanniang and her three sisters.
There is a brand new wooden tub in the corner. Before, we didn’t have a bathtub at home, so we used a larger bathtub to take a bath. Now that conditions are better, we can use the bathtub to take a bath.
There is a wash basin in the corner of the bathroom, with a copper plate on it. The copper basin can be removed. There is also a large copper mirror on the wall. There is a clothes hanger facing the pavilion, where you can put your clothes.
There is a door facing the backyard in the bathroom. After exiting this door, the toilet is on the right.
The toilet is a long squat toilet with a faucet on the left and a bucket underneath so you can flush it directly after using the toilet.
There is a small door between the wall and the right side of the toilet, which leads directly to the pavilion.
Back to the residential area, there is also a yard in front of the house, but it is not as big as the one near the kitchen.
The house looks like a concave shape when viewed from above, and the concave part is the yard and the gate.
There are also three steps in front of the gate. The corridors on both sides of the gate are equipped with hollow fence handrails, and two pots of green plants are placed at the end of the fence.
The left corridor is the utility room, which is used to store the harvested grain. The right corridor is the study.
There are lanterns hanging under the eaves of the door and on both sides of the aisles. There are also wall candlesticks on the walls facing the lanterns.
Push open the door and enter the living room. The living room is very large. There is no luxurious decoration, but it looks very simple and elegant.
There was no such thing as a sofa at that time, so the sofa that Song Sanniang asked Master Tan to make was, in everyone's opinion, a Luohan bed, an extra-long Luohan bed.
Standing at the door, the whole hall is clear at a glance. The wall on the left is painted with a whole wall of ink landscape painting.
There is a two-meter-long ironwood sofa placed in front of the wall. In fact, it is made of two one-meter-long sofas put together. Considering that the two-meter sofa is difficult to transport, Song Sanniang and Master Tan agreed to put two one-meter-long sofas together.
This sofa is dark brown. The backrest and seat are made of a whole piece of wood. There is no carving or decoration. The backrest has a curved arc.
However, the armrests are hollowed out, which reduces the heavy texture of the sofa and makes it more light and stylish.
In front of the sofa there is a large apricot rattan carpet, on which are placed two coffee tables, one large and one small, made of the same ironwood log.
The large coffee table was filled with tea sets, and the small one was filled with a three-layer wooden fruit plate in the order of small, medium and large.
The three-layer fruit plate is in the shape of clouds, with various wedding candies, wedding cakes and some fruits placed on it.
Two large armchairs of the same material and color as the sofa were placed near the entrance, and a small armchair of the same color was placed between the two armchairs.
A chaise longue made of the same material is placed near the coffee table in the dining room. All the chairs are equipped with light apricot linen cushions printed with green lotus, which gives the whole set of furniture a touch of Zen.
On the right side of the living room, there is a low table as long as the sofa, which is called a TV cabinet in modern terms. There are drawers under the low table.
On the low table were the ornaments Song Sanniang had bought before, a pair of porcelain plates with the scenery of Xue Rui Mountain Stream,
On the left and right sides of the low table, there is a half-person-high vase, in which a vibrant lucky bamboo is planted.
Hanging on the wall above the low table is a three-panel ink painting of red plum blossoms announcing good news, magpies climbing branches, and flowers blooming for wealth, making the entire living room look simple and elegant.
On the other side of the living room is the dining room with a hollow partition. There is a large rotating round table inside. The table can seat twelve people. At this moment, all twelve chairs are occupied.
A semi-open wine cabinet was built on the left side of the dining room, and a combined sideboard was built on the other two sides of the dining room.
There are aisles on both sides of the dining room. The toilet is on the right side of the aisle near the backyard. The toilet is the same as the kitchen, but there is an additional washbasin like the bathroom, with a bronze mirror installed on it so that you can check your appearance. There is a back door from the toilet that leads to the backyard.
Then there is the study room. Song Sanniang thought that she could take classes here when she is at home, so the study room is very large.
There are two desks on each side of the door, with matching chairs, which are used for children to take classes.
The large desk is at the back of the study. In the middle of the wall behind the desk is a circular ink painting.
Then there are built-in bookcases on the left and right sides, and an antique shelf and a bookcase are placed on the left and right sides of the large desk.
The antique shelf was filled with various ornaments that Song Sanniang had bought before. The bookcase was very shabby, with no books on it. There were two armchairs in front of the large desk.
At the end of the corridor outside the study is the room of Song Laoer and his wife. Their room is very simple. There is a wardrobe on the left side of the wall when you enter the door.
This wardrobe is made in a modern style. The top is for placing quilts, and the bottom is divided into a hanging area and a clothing folding area. The bottom is a drawer for placing underwear.
There is a large bunk bed in the middle of the room. The bunk bed retains the characteristics of the original bed. The four bedposts are used as storage places for personal belongings. To the right of the bunk bed is a set of dressing table and chairs, and then there are two large windows facing the yard.
After leaving the room of Mr. and Mrs. Song, passing the dining room and coming to the left, the first thing you see is the staircase to the second floor. The first room after walking past the staircase is the guest room.
There is a wardrobe on the left side of the guest room entrance, a bunk bed in the middle, a dressing table next to the bunk bed, and the window faces the backyard.
The next room in the corner is the utility room. There are not many things in the utility room now, but later she might put in some things that Song Ersao is reluctant to throw away from the old house.
