Song Sanniang's Journey to Wealth

Chapter 202 Min'an Town

Chapter 202 Min'an Town

After the two men left, He Xiaodi laughed twice, "Uncle, how did you know about this little song? You must have heard it before. I will tell grandfather that you went to listen to people singing the little song."

Master He San glanced at his little nephew, then smiled leisurely and said, "Okay, if you are punished for listening to the ditty, your grandparents will also be punished."

"Why?" He Xiaodi asked puzzled.

"Because your grandparents listened to it with me." He lowered his head in disappointment. While the two were talking, the dishes were served.

After all the dishes were served, a shopkeeper came to briefly explain the origin and cooking methods of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall. This is not a secret in the local area, because there are so many people who make Buddha Jumps Over the Wall.

Although everyone may or may not know that the He family has also eaten it, it does not affect everyone's serious listening to his story.

"Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is also called Mantanxiang or Fushouquan. It is a dish invented by our local area. According to legend, an official in the previous dynasty entertained the then Fujian Provincial Governor and served this dish.

The governor was very satisfied with the dish and asked his chef to improve it according to the original recipe.

Later, the chef left the Governor's Office and opened a "Sanyou Street" restaurant at the East Street of Fuzhou.

He served this dish at a banquet of scholars, and someone improvised a poem: "When the pot is opened, the aroma of meat spreads to the neighbors, and the Buddha jumps over the wall to come when he hears the Buddha abandons Zen."

This is how the dish got its name. "After explaining the origin of the dish, the shopkeeper talked about how to make Buddha Jumps Over the Wall.

"Buddha Jumps Over the Wall usually uses precious ingredients such as abalone, sea cucumber, fish lips, yak hide glue, king oyster mushroom, tendon, flower mushroom, cuttlefish, scallop, quail eggs, etc., and adds broth and our local old wine, and simmers it over low heat."

Everyone present here has also gained some knowledge, because after all, some people have never eaten or heard of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall.

In addition to Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, we also ordered three Fuzhou specialties: Drunken Spare Ribs, Lychee Pork, and Stir-fried Crispy Pork.

The shopkeeper briefly introduced the three dishes to everyone and then served them to everyone, allowing them to enjoy the food.

In addition to the special dishes, there are also fresh boiled shrimps, mantis shrimps (not called mantis shrimps yet), steamed oysters and scallops, and crabs on the table.

The vegetarian dish is a boiled vegetarian dish of eight delicacies, which is made by cooking a variety of vegetables and soy products together.

Aunt Qu, Xia He, and Xiao Jinzi were responsible for serving food to everyone. Aunt Qu opened the jar of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall.

A rich aroma of wine and meat wafted into the air, spreading across the table. She served everyone a bowl of soup. The soup was thick and brown, but not greasy.

Everyone took a sip, the aroma of wine mixed with the aroma of various ingredients, it tasted soft and smooth, rich in meaty flavor, but not greasy, the various ingredients blended together, the taste was unforgettable.

The rest of the dishes are also different from the Xiantao Mansion and taste unique.

Especially seafood, fresh seafood is especially sweet, all the ingredients are original, you can really taste the taste of the sea,

Moreover, the restaurant's blanched and steamed seafood are provided with dipping sauces. If you don't want the taste of onions and garlic in your mouth, you can eat it directly without dipping.

Everyone had a taste of Fuzhou cuisine. After finishing their meal and digesting the food, they went downstairs and strolled around the streets.

The architectural style and exquisite stone carvings of the streets and alleys here are different from the southern Fujian style of Xiantao Prefecture. White walls and black tiles, curved gables, flying eaves and corners, unique forms and beauty are their iconic elements.

Bricks, tiles, wood and stones bear witness to the passage of time and flow with the memories of the city.

Fuzhou is located on the southeast coast, with the Minjiang River running through it. The well-developed water system has created a prosperous overseas trade in Fuzhou.

Even a few foreigners could be seen on the road from time to time, which surprised the crowds who had never seen foreigners before.

Song Sanniang and Master He San had seen foreigners before, so they were relatively calm. However, little brother He was making a fuss and even wanted to buy a foreigner to study him, which made everyone laugh and cry.

Amid the shouting and hawking of vendors on the street, street vendors are selling a variety of local Fuzhou snacks.

For example, Fuzhou fish balls, flat meat, meat dumplings, Dingbianhu, Laohua, Guangbing, fish balls, oyster cakes, taro cakes, shrimp cakes, fried meat cakes, thousand leaf cakes, turnip cakes, white cakes, ice rice, etc.

Everyone had never heard of it or tasted it before. After listening to Aunt Qu's introduction, everyone would have bought some to try, unless they had just finished their meal.

Everyone walked and looked around, and soon arrived at the second stop of the day, Jiulong Bridge.

Although the Jiulong Bridge is small, it is very unique. There are Xuandi Pavilion, Shengwang Temple, Guanyin Pavilion and other buildings on the north and south ends of the stone bridge. This ancient bridge is the only way for residents on both sides of the Xinggang River to travel.

Jiulong Bridge is a granite flat beam structure with four piers and five holes. It is 65 meters long and more than four meters wide.

The bridge piers are in the shape of a boat, and the guardrails are carved with exquisite patterns such as lions, sea beasts, and lotus flowers, showing the exquisite skills of the craftsmen who built the bridge at that time.

It has gone through thousands of years of trials and tribulations, through noise and silence, prosperity and desolation, and still stubbornly holds on in this ancient town at the mouth of the Minjiang River.

We stood on the bridge and felt the history of this ancient bridge, and then came to the Shengwang Temple at the end of the bridge.

The Shengwang Temple faces south and is composed of a cross-street pavilion, Shengwang Hall, and Guanyin Pavilion, covering an area of more than 400 square meters.

The corridor pavilion across the street is rectangular, with a wooden frame and a double-eaved hip roof. It is connected to the Jiulong Bridge in the west. The temple gate and the pavilion gate face the central axis of the ancient bridge. There are stone railings on the left and three stone tablets in the pavilion.

The Shengwang Temple is a civil structure, five rooms wide and five rooms deep, with a beam-through-beam wooden structure. It enshrines the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, Sun Wukong.

Guanyin Pavilion is difficult for most people to find because it is hidden on the third floor of Xingci Temple next to Shengwang Temple.

This Xingci Temple has four floors, the Main Hall is on the fourth floor, and the Guanyin Pavilion is on the third floor, so it is difficult for first-time visitors to find it.

Everyone followed Aunt Qu inside to look around. He was left outside the temple with a guard guarding him because Aunt Qu said he was too young and was afraid the statues inside would scare him.

Although he liked the Monkey King very much, he heard from Nanny Qu that the statues inside were all hideous and ferocious in order to exorcise evil spirits. He was a little scared when he saw the two tall statues above the gate, so he didn't make a fuss and just stayed outside the door obediently.

The others followed Aunt Qu's steps and entered the Temple of the Holy King. Aunt Qu said that the Temple of the Holy King usually opens on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month, so everyone was lucky enough to catch that day.
