Chapter 133 A Brief Encounter with the Doctor
Chapter 133 A Brief Encounter with the Doctor
A figure dressed in black with red hair descended from the sky, landing on the stacks of wine barrels. A cold gaze shone through the Night Owl's mask as he looked at Krober, whose hand was pinned down by a dart.
"There are assassins!"
Just as several guards raised their spears and began clamoring to rush forward to rescue their diplomat, Xu Ning, standing beside them, had already taken the wine gourd tucked into his waistband.
"Drunken madness!"
These guards were probably more of a ceremonial guard; their strength was very ordinary, and they were nothing compared to the Wind Fist Vanguard Army that Xu Ning had seen in his early years.
Before he could finish the "Drunken Madness" move, there was no one left standing next to Xu Ning.
Krober realized the situation was dire and, with a pained cry, pulled the dart from the back of his hand.
"You damned scoundrels, do you even know who I am? How dare you hurt me..."
Before he could finish speaking, Diluc's chains had already arrived.
Just as Crobber was trying to escape, he was suddenly trapped. Diluc grabbed him from behind and asked, "What happened to the children you recruited from Mondstadt for the Doctor?"
Krobor coughed twice. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Diluc said coldly, "Perhaps I can help you recall."
An ominous flame suddenly erupted from Diluc's left hand and slowly approached Claude's cheek.
"Please think about it carefully. Anthony, the son of the baker in Mondstadt, accepted the conscription to Winter and has been out of contact ever since. Do you remember?"
Xu Ning glanced at the flames on Diluc's left hand and sensed a strange fragrance slowly spreading around him.
"Is this the scent of Mistweaver Grass? It does give me a kind of exhilarating feeling. Diluc seems to use the Evil Eye on his hand without any side effects, and even seems to handle it with great ease. I wonder what the effect would be if I used it?"
Xu Ning took a sip of wine and stared at the entrance to the wine cellar again.
If nothing unexpected happens, the Doctor will arrive soon. If I can stall for even a second, I might be able to extract a lot of information from Diluc.
Krobor, perhaps realizing something at this moment, began to fabricate a story: "That kid you mentioned, I remember him. He was exceptionally talented and was eventually chosen by my master..."
Diluc coldly replied, "...Were you sent to the underground arena?"
Kroeber was startled, and cold sweat poured down his back.
"Ah, this...this..."
Diluc gently pressed the flame from his left hand against Clobber's face.
Krobor felt as if a red-hot iron had been pressed against him, and he screamed in agony again.
What exactly is the Doctor doing, recruiting children from Mondstadt?
Krobor looked at the flames in Diluc's hand with fear, swallowed hard, and said with difficulty, "Master's purpose is to..."
"Shh!"
A flash of silver light appeared, and a perfectly clear hole was ripped open in Kroborsky's head from left to right.
Diluc tossed aside Clobber's corpse, and suddenly three iron chains burning with dark flames shot out from his hand, lashing out at a spinning cone in mid-air.
Xu Ning was also shocked. He had been staring at the entrance of the wine cellar the whole time and had no idea where the sharp cone had come from.
"Is it blowing in through the air vent above?"
Xu Ning instantly thought of a possibility, looked up at the air vent above his head, and saw a flash of silver light, as another sharp cone shot towards him.
The cone was moving so fast that it was almost beyond the limits of human vision.
Xu Ning had barely seen it when the gleaming, sharp cone was right in front of his face.
Xu Ning jerked his head back to dodge the sharp cone, and only then did he hear the hissing sound of the cone cutting through the air.
"Incompetent people should all die."
A figure emerged from the cellar entrance; it was the Doctor, wearing the Fatui symbol mask.
Diluc's chain slipped from his grasp without a doubt; the speed of that sharp cone was simply too fast to catch.
After dodging the sneak attack from the spikes, Xu Ning turned around without hesitation and used a powerful punch, "Bring in the Wine," on the doctor who had appeared.
A dragon-shaped aura of alcohol rushed towards the doctor's body.
Xu Ning threw a punch, his left hand already drawing out the alcohol fumes again. If the doctor were to become even slightly careless and fall into a deep sleep, his fiery fist would turn him into a piece of fried meat the next second.
However, the doctor glanced curiously at Xu Ning with his scarlet eyes, and with a flash of movement, easily dodged Xu Ning's punch.
"Hehehe, what an interesting unexpected gain! Compared to those few useless people on the ground, your two 'eyes of God' are quite interesting!"
The doctor chuckled twice. "That's enough for the entertainment. Hone your insignificant strength; it might become more interesting in the future."
As his voice faded into the distance, the doctor's figure disappeared from the spot.
Xu Ning and Diluc exchanged a glance, both still shaken.
Xu Ning pointed towards the banquet hall, indicating that Diluc should go back to the banquet.
"What a formidable opponent. No wonder he was able to subdue the dragon Usa, which was troubling Mondstadt, with ease. But was that dragon really not his own? Otherwise, why would it keep harassing Mondstadt, indirectly creating countless opportunities for Winter to infiltrate Mondstadt?"
After Diluc left, Xu Ning stood there, staring blankly at the corpses scattered on the ground. What should be done with these corpses?
It wouldn't be good to start a fire in this wine cellar, would it?
"Leave these cleaning chores to me, a professional maid!"
Xu Ning turned around.
Head Maid Adeline crossed her arms in front of her, a slight smile playing on her lips, as if she were preparing a sumptuous dinner.
When Xu Ning returned to the banquet after hiding the wine gourd again, Bishop Simon was already almost drunk.
The lucky guy was patting Kaeya, the cavalry captain of the Favonius Legion, and said with a smile, "I really didn't expect the Doctor to withdraw his request and leave. It seems that Mondstadt will be peaceful for a while longer."
"As for Krobor and his men, you'll be in charge of escorting them. Don't look so distressed; they're just a few ordinary diplomats."
Xu Ning picked up another glass of wine from the table and sipped it slowly.
Hearing the bishop's words, Xu Ning smiled and thought to himself, "I can send the others away, but as for Krobor, Kaia probably already knew he couldn't possibly come out of the wine cellar!"
The next morning, Xu Ning, who had nothing to do, got up early.
It's a beautiful day today; the badminton festival in Mondstadt must be in full swing with preparations!
It would be worthwhile to go and have a good look around.
Xu Ning came down from the guest room on the second floor and saw Hailey talking to another maid named Moco about her latest experiences.
“Strange things have happened again.”
"Last night, Miss Adeline said that another envoy from winter had been placed on the second floor, but when I went up to clean this morning, apart from Xu Ning's room, all the other rooms were empty, as if no one had lived there at all."
Mo Ke patted his chest with his little hands and said, "How scary! And then what? And then what?"
Hayley said mysteriously, "Then I asked Miss Adeline where the guests who checked in last night were. Miss Adeline ignored me and just kept talking while watering the flowers in the garden..."
Moko swallowed hard and asked nervously, "What did you say?"
Hayley paused, then mimicked Head Maid Adeline's voice, saying, "Won't these flowers bloom beautifully next year?"
