Did something happen in Chapter 205?

Even with a thousand words in her heart, Yu Yuetong felt utterly speechless. Unable to bear Mo Qingcheng's venomous and chilling gaze any longer, she turned and ran.

She had to escape from here, escape this suffocating situation.

Qin Reng stood there, stunned, watching her figure gradually disappear into the night, his heart aching.

He tried to call out to her, but found that he couldn't make a sound at all.

Mo Qingcheng patted his shoulder, feigning pity as if bestowing a favor: "Young Master Qin, only when your heart is broken do you realize that what hurts is not her betrayal, but your trust."

"Get out of my way." Qin Reng forcefully pulled Mo Qingcheng's hand away, his face regaining its cold and indifferent expression.

Mo Qingcheng chuckled, his voice full of mockery: "Young Master Qin, take your time to realize it. Perhaps when the truth is revealed, you will find that all that so-called love and trust was nothing but an illusion."

Qin Reng ignored the jeers behind him and turned to leave. He rushed to the parking lot, but when he grasped the car door, he found himself trembling. Yu Yuetong was never the kind of person to betray him; he knew that her soul had given him warmth more than once.

He sat in the car, his fingers gripping the steering wheel so tightly they felt like they were about to break. The anger and turmoil within him were now raging like wildfire, making it impossible for him to remain calm. Countless nights flashed through his mind: her smile, her tears, her stubborn expression, her endearing domineering side…

After an unknown amount of time, there were two knocks on the car window. Qin Reng was startled awake and looked up to see Han Shuang. He hurriedly opened the car door, and Han Shuang looked at him with concern: "Reng'er, you look so pale, has something happened?"

He sighed softly and leaned his head back in his seat. "Mom, Yu Yuetong... she seems to have misunderstood me."

Han Shuang frowned and leaned down to touch the back of his hand: "I told you before, girls like this need to be cherished. You too, don't be aloof and seem tough and invincible, but you're actually more fragile than anyone else inside."

"Whether she knew or not? I'm not sure." His voice was heavy. "Some things, once missed, may never have another chance to be proven."

Han Shuang couldn't bear to see him like this any longer, so she leaned slightly against the car door and said, "Don't lose her. I can tell she loves you. Whether it's true or not, you should give her a chance to prove herself."

Qin Reng stared at the roof of the car. After a long while, he finally revealed a faint smile, though it was fleeting: "Perhaps, but, Mom, love is not always so simple."

Han Shuang gently patted his shoulder and said earnestly, "Child, you still have time. Remember, true love can withstand the test of time. A chance misunderstanding might actually make you two better."

Qin Reng started the engine again, this time without hesitation. Familiar street scenes flashed past him, and after a moment, he stopped in front of a secluded park, where all was quiet. At that moment, his phone rang; it was a message from Yu Yuetong.

He gripped his phone, staring at the message on the screen: "I'm sorry, I need some time to think things through." These few words filled Qin Reng's heart with complex emotions. He knew he had to remain calm and give her the space she needed.

But he also understood that since their souls were swapped, every choice they made had become all the more precious. He couldn't hesitate any longer, or he would miss out on everything. Just as he was pondering his next move, another message popped up on his phone: "I'm waiting for you at the place where we had our first date..."

His heart suddenly raced. In that moment, he understood that even if the truth remained obscure, he would not let go of this hard-won emotion.

Qin Reng stared into her eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing, remaining silent for a long time. The silver spoon in his hand twirled unconsciously, making a soft metallic scraping sound, but it couldn't mask the turmoil churning within him.

Yu Yuetong just looked at him, her eyes filled with a glimmer of hope, yet also with a self-protective indifference. She was like a wounded little animal, clearly weak and pitiful, yet stubbornly refusing to back down. Qin Reng was momentarily unsure whether he should comfort her or let her pull him away from this emotional vortex.

He suddenly felt a pang of regret, regretting his doubts and hesitations all those days, and regretting not letting her know his true feelings sooner. He was a businessman who was used to weighing gains and losses, but he had never considered that a woman's heart was not something he could easily calculate as "profit."

“Yu Yuetong,” he finally spoke, but instead of answering her question directly, he asked in a trembling voice, “In your heart, have I always been just this kind of person? A schemer who only knows how to plot and has no real feelings?”

She paused, not expecting him to bring up this topic, but readily admitted, "At first it was like that, but now..." She hesitated, a bitter smile playing on her lips, "I don't know what else can happen."

Qin Reng felt a sharp pang in his heart. He looked at her smile, but it felt like a knife, cutting him so painfully he could barely breathe. He even wanted to tear the cake on the table apart; that small piece had become the battlefield of their emotional struggle.

He suddenly stood up, his movement so fast that the chair scraped sharply across the floor, drawing stares from those around him. He paid no attention to any of that, one hand on the table, his gaze sharp as he approached her.

"You don't know, what else can you do?" His tone was low and piercing, carrying an almost angry sense of oppression. "Yu Yuetong, when you gave yourself to me, didn't you think about how this would develop? Did you think we were just having a simple exchange of souls, a mutually beneficial transaction? Even now, you still only see me as a tool for your own benefit, right?"

She was stunned after hearing this. In his eyes at that moment, there was a kind of restrained vulnerability and anger that she had never seen before, so complex that it was almost impossible to understand.

She suddenly laughed, but the laugh was devoid of any warmth: "It was a deal, wasn't it? It's okay if you don't acknowledge it, because that's how it really started. Qin Reng, we never discussed feelings; we discussed contracts. As for what happened later, I admit I wavered, but it wasn't that I was truly moved—I was just used to being entangled with you like this, used to the tacit understanding between us in our playful banter."

Qin Reng's heart sank suddenly. The word "habit" in her words hit his chest like a sharp stone. He felt he should refute something, but the voice that came out of his mouth was trembling like never before: "But, I was moved."
