Chapter 1144: Calling Her by Name
Chapter 1144: Calling Her by Name
His gaze was penetrating, as if he had been listening intently.
The tone, whether intentional or not, seemed a bit lazy, almost teasing.
But how could Ryan Walyon possibly speak to her in such a tone?
He likes someone else, not her.
Ariella Sawyer was stunned for a moment, her face heating up, feeling extremely awkward.
"President Chapman misunderstood, don’t take what he says seriously." Unnaturally touching her ear, Ariella quickly lowered her face, burying her head as she started eating.
Ryan Walyon seemed to stare at her for a while before continuing to chat with the other people at the table.
Ariella kept her head down the whole time, afraid of meeting his gaze, and didn’t dare to lift her head afterward.
But someone wouldn’t let her go easily.
The President who had just encouraged her to whisper in Ryan Walyon’s ear started teasing her, "Little Bell, why don’t you propose a toast to Mr. Walyon! With Mr. Walyon as your support, you won’t have to worry about your future career in acting."
"President Chapman, we really aren’t..." Ariella raised her face to continue her explanation, but Ryan Walyon unexpectedly chimed in, "Later, you take me home."
His tone was not one of negotiation or inquiry, but a direct command.
He didn’t ask whether she was willing or not.
President Chapman looked at them with a more ambiguous gaze.
Ariella was a bit dumbfounded.
Why did he specifically ask her to take him home?
Ryan Walyon’s words left Ariella completely bewildered.
What Ryan Walyon actually thought was that among the many people at the table, Ariella was the only one he trusted.
He wanted to avoid waking up in the morning with another woman in his bed.
Such things are common tactics used by some companies in business dealings to achieve their own interests.
However, he didn’t explain that much.
It’s likely that knowing Ariella was there, Ryan Walyon let down his guard even more.
Throughout dinner, he drank quite a lot, accepting any toast offered to him.
When no one was toasting, he poured and drank by himself.
Ariella tried multiple times to stop him but, moving her lips, swallowed back her words.
Perhaps he was just trying to release his emotions?
He might not listen to her anyway.
Saying nothing, Ariella quietly sat beside him, just accompanying him.
At the table, several men would occasionally glance at Ryan Walyon.
What Ariella didn’t know was that, before she arrived, two men planning to make a deal with Ryan tonight really intended to send women to his room.
Such things are all too common in business networking.
However, Ariella’s arrival completely disrupted their plans...
Ryan Walyon continued drinking, while Ariella, normally quite talkative, became much quieter sitting beside him.
She didn’t speak at all, simply quietly accompanying him.
The dinner ended at eleven o’clock.
Ryan Walyon was clearly somewhat drunk, unsteady on his feet as he stood, nearly bumping into the chair behind him.
Ariella hurriedly held him steady.
With her arms appropriately holding his waist to stabilize him, Ariella asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
Her actions were simply an instinctive reaction in such a situation; Ryan’s height made it impossible for her to support him without both arms.
The intimacy of their current posture perhaps went unnoticed even by herself.
Ryan Walyon turned his face, quietly staring at her arms for a few seconds.
Ariella was momentarily stunned, realizing what she had done, feeling a bit embarrassed.
