Chapter 30 adds Liangpi (cold skin noodles)

Chapter 30 adds Liangpi (cold skin noodles)

Perhaps because he was full, the little wolf was very lively all night, constantly wriggling on the bed.

Wen Luozhi didn't sleep well all night because of it, and came out with panda eyes before the rooster crowed.

Just as she finished kneading the dough and was about to start washing it, Xie He came in with a lamp and was startled when she saw her. "Daughter, didn't I tell you to get up later yesterday? Why are you up so early?"

Wen Luozhi told Xie He about the little wolf, leaving him both amused and exasperated.

Then she took over the work from Wen Luozhi and demonstrated how to wash her face again before Xie He started doing it.

She took out the seeds she had soaked yesterday from next to the water tank. The seeds were no longer as shriveled as they were yesterday; they were plump and juicy.

She picked up a small hoe and an oil lamp and went into the yard. The small plot of land that Wen Zixun had hoeed earlier was still empty. She scattered the seeds and covered them with a thin layer of mud with the small hoe.

She took out the fertilizer from the system, diluted it, and sprayed it on the surface. Thinking it was too hot, she picked some leaves to cover it.

After finishing everything, they returned to the kitchen. Xie He had already washed the dough and placed it on the stove, while Wen Luozhi washed her hands and started steaming cold noodles.

Xie He searched around and found the finest sieve for her. She tried it and it worked well.

When half of the water in the basin for washing her face had gone down, Xie He had also finished preparing half of the food.

As dawn broke, Li Chunxing and Yang Guilan also got up to help.

Seeing the two people in the kitchen, Li Chunxing felt a little embarrassed. Her body was getting heavier and she was sleeping much better these past few days, which was why she was sleeping late.

Yang Guilan was unusually proactive today, and she would rush to do almost everything that Xie He was supposed to do without him having to ask.

Xie He knew why she was so diligent. Knowing that the village chief was going to gather the villagers to discuss planting potatoes today, she needed to arrange for her sons to prepare the seeds at home. So she said to Yang Guilan, "You and Luoluo are going to town today. Be careful not to cause me any trouble!"

Yang Guilan burst out laughing upon hearing this and quickly assured Xie He that she would take good care of Wen Luozhi and absolutely not cause any trouble.

After steaming the cold noodles, Wen Luozhi cut them into even strips by hand, then prepared a large bowl of them according to her secret recipe and brought it to the main hall.

The men had already washed up. Today, Wen Muchuan had to stay home and help Xie He harvest the potatoes, so the work in the fields fell to the three brothers in the family.

Wen Luozhi filled each of them with a large bowl. "Try my new dish, I'm going to sell it in town today," she said, her eyes fixed on them.

After taking a bite, the people at the table didn't stop, and Wen Luozhi nodded in satisfaction.

It seems to taste pretty good. Actually, she had already tried it, but everyone has different tastes, so she wanted to see if others thought it tasted as good as she did.

Wen Luozhi and Yang Guilan were about to leave after packing the food for Wen Zijin and the others. Just as they stepped out the door, Er Ya rushed out of the room, rubbing her eyes, and stood in front of Wen Luozhi.

Wen Luozhi squatted down, took her little hand, and asked with a smile, "Er Ya, what's wrong? Is there something you want to say to your aunt?"

Er Ya shook her head and whispered, "I want to go to town with my aunt."

Seemingly afraid that Wen Luozhi would disagree, she quickly added, "I'm going to help my aunt; I don't want to go out and play."

After spending the last few days together, Wen Luozhi had completely gained Er Ya's trust. Thinking about how happy her sister was when she went to town last time, Er Ya also wanted to go with her.

She finally got up so early today just to go to town and experience what it's like to be with her aunt.

Startled, Li Chunxing ran to the doorstep and scolded Er Ya, "Your aunt has important business to attend to in town. You can't go along and cause trouble."

Er Ya lowered her head in disappointment after hearing her mother's words, feeling extremely sad.

Wen Luozhi, however, took her little hand and led her outside, saying, "Auntie will take you to wash your face. You can't go to town with a dirty face, okay?"

Er Ya felt as if she had gone from hell to heaven in an instant. She held Wen Luozhi's hand tightly and skipped along with her.

Li Chunxing smiled faintly in the room. Seeing her youngest daughter so happy made her happy as a mother, and she also felt more grateful to Wen Luozhi.

Because Er Ya hadn't eaten breakfast, Wen Luozhi peeled her own egg and stuffed it into her mouth.

The smile on the little girl's face never faded even after they arrived in town. She had hardly ever eaten eggs in her life, let alone two in one morning. Her aunt was so kind!

It was a bit later today than the previous two days. The previous stall had been taken over by an old man selling vegetables, and Wen Luozhi finally managed to find a corner to set up a small stall with Yang Guilan.

Yang Guilan looked at the few scattered people around her, who all looked worried and had lost their enthusiasm for work.

With so few people here, how can they sell anything? They arrived so late today, and the number of stalls around here hasn't decreased much, which shows that it's not easy to do business here.

Wen Luozhi patted her shoulder encouragingly, saying, "Good wine needs no bush, Second Sister-in-law, you must have confidence in yourself."

Yang Guilan felt much better after hearing her words. While Wen Luozhi was adjusting the cold noodles, she started shouting loudly. Of course, today's shouts included cold noodles.

Er Ya tilted her head and imitated Yang Guilan, shouting one sentence at a time without any stage fright.

Wen Luozhi was somewhat surprised, but mostly happy.

After calling out for quite a while, the first customer finally arrived. "Oh, young lady, what are you doing setting up your stall in this corner today? If I didn't have good eyesight, I wouldn't have seen you at all!"

Wen Luozhi took a look and realized it was that regular customer who loved to buy braised pork intestines.

She smiled and said, "I'm a little late because I made some new dishes today. How many bowls of pork intestines would you like today, sir?"

Hearing about the new food, the uncle's eyes lit up, and he said to Wen Luozhi, "Three bowls as usual, and add extra chili oil!"

"How about another bowl of these noodles? Can I add chili oil too?" He pointed to the extra cold noodles on the small table, presumably the new product.

"Okay, uncle, I'll add chili to both the cold noodles and the large intestines for you." Wen Luozhi filled three bowls with pig large intestines and gave him half a bowl as a bonus, and also added plenty of chili oil to a bowl of cold noodles that was overflowing with chili.

After paying, he smelled the strong, spicy aroma, asked Wen Luozhi for a pair of chopsticks, and started eating right there in front of the stall.

"Wow! That's delicious! It's so good!" He would take a break after a couple of bites, then enjoy the braised pork intestines he ate with relish in front of the stall.

Seeing that he was sweating profusely, whether from the heat or the spiciness, Wen Luozhi took a bamboo tube of plum juice and handed it to him. "Uncle, this is homemade sweet soup. It's refreshing and helps cut through the greasiness. Please try it."

The man thanked him, took the drink, and after taking a sip, he gulped down the rest.

He licked his lips, still savoring the taste. "It really is a good thing!"

I'm not afraid to admit it, but in all his life, he's never had such delicious sweet soup before!

He took out his purse to pay, but Wen Luozhi smiled and waved her hand, saying, "Uncle, you're patronizing my business, that drink is free, no charge."

The uncle paused for a moment, then pulled out a few coins and said readily, "Young lady, doing business isn't easy, and I won't take it for nothing! My wife is going back to her parents' home today, and I was just wondering what new things to buy her."

"Give me half of the remaining large intestine, four or five bowls of this 'liangpi' (cold skin noodles), and five of each of these little trinkets."

Yang Guilan was overjoyed; her very first order was a big deal!

She and Wen Luozhi packed their things, while Er Ya tightly clutched the silver her aunt had asked her to keep safe.

As Uncle Na took the food and walked out of the street, he shouted into the crowd, "The dumplings and wontons you wanted are at the very back! We have new items today!"

His shout actually spurred several people to go find Wen Luozhi's stall together.

When they arrived at the stall, the people in front of them were pleasantly surprised. They thought this family hadn't come today, but it turned out they were here.

After buying the items, one customer said, "Young lady, if you ask me, you should rent a fixed stall. It'll be easier to find one later!" The others agreed and nodded in agreement.

Wen Luozhi smiled and said, "We'll be going to the academy in a few days, so let's sell them like this for now."

"There will be many more options once we get there, and we hope that uncles and aunts will come and support us then."

She spoke tactfully, and the people in front of the stall felt comfortable listening to her and all said they would definitely come.

After everyone left, Er Ya carefully shook the money bag in her hand, and the clattering sound of the copper coins was particularly pleasant.

She raised her little head, her eyes sparkling, and exclaimed, "My aunt is so amazing!"

Wen Luozhi gently pinched her cheek and prepared half a bowl of cold noodles for her, telling her to sit against the wall and eat.
