Chapter 102 Clay Pot Rice Noodles
Chapter 102 Clay Pot Rice Noodles
Xia Shiyu kept shouting and physically dissuading the crowd, finally managing to quell the chaos.
By this time, more than a dozen baskets had been emptied. The people who managed to grab radishes had their clothes wrinkled from being squeezed, but they were still very proud and went to line up on the other side with victorious expressions.
Next, Xia Shiyu learned from her mistake and instead of letting everyone rush to buy, she had them line up in turn.
She continued selling them one by one, while on the other side, people who had already grabbed the radishes lined up to pay, and Yu Juan was also amazed.
She glanced at Chen Aiying, who had at least 20 radishes in her hand, and emphasized again, "Sister, these radishes cost ten yuan a pound. If you don't know the price, you can put some back if you take too many."
Their radishes are huge; one radish is enough for a family of three to eat, and they're not cheap either. Yet Chen Aiying took more than 20 radishes, which adds up to 600 or 700 yuan. Who usually spends that much money on groceries?
Chen Aiying waved her hand, "No need to put them back, I want them all."
She then reluctantly counted out a few red bills and handed them over. She was really going all out this time, as these 20-odd radishes were her precious treasures!
Her relatives wouldn't share the food with her; they ate it all themselves!
Seeing that Chen Aiying was adamant, Yu Juan took the money directly. She was just afraid that Chen Aiying might not know the situation and could return it if she regretted it.
After giving me the change, Yu Juan started looking at the next customer who was paying. She showed me the bag full of radishes, paused for a moment, and then glanced at the queue behind her.
Good heavens, everyone had at least ten sticks in their hands, and she even suspected that some of them had brought their entire baskets!
To be honest, there was someone who actually tried to just carry the basket away, but luckily Xia Shiyu stopped them in time.
Seeing this, Yu Juan could only speed up her work, weighing them and calculating the money.
Xia Shiyu was also busy filling the long line with radishes.
Although she had a lot of radishes in her truck, everyone bought a lot, so the number of radishes decreased in the end, and each person received a limited amount.
When it was the last two people, there were only 5 carrots left in front of them.
Qiu Ying and her boyfriend stared blankly at the five radishes in front of them. They had been called out by her mother to buy groceries. She was studying at a university in another city, and this year, because of an event being held there, the university had started its summer break very early.
She and her boyfriend are both from Xishi, so they came back together. Their parents both know about their relationship and are urging them to get married right after graduating from college.
Today, her boyfriend came to visit her at home. Just as the two were about to leave, Qiu's mother stopped them, telling her that she must go to the market to buy radishes today, and that she must buy as many as possible.
Qiu Ying agreed immediately after hearing this. She had eaten Xia's vegetables before and knew they were delicious and sold out quickly, so she and her boyfriend arrived early, planning to buy radishes before browsing the market.
But who would have thought the situation would suddenly become so intense, with a bunch of people rushing forward to grab the carrots, leaving the two inexperienced youngsters behind.
They couldn't even get a good spot in line; they were last in line. There were only five carrots left in the basket, and that was only because Xia Shiyu deliberately left them out, otherwise they would have been bought up by the people in front of them long ago.
Qiu Ying felt like crying but had no tears left; she hadn't expected things to turn out this way.
She turned to her boyfriend and said, "Oh no, I'm going to get yelled at when we get back."
Wu Jiankang hadn't expected things to turn out this way. He scratched his head and finally said, "It's okay, Yingying. The boss said we'll be coming a few more times. Let's come back then."
Xia Shiyu nodded in agreement, "Yes, I'll come again in a few days. Remember to come earlier next time."
Since things had come to this, Qiu Ying could only nod and say, "Okay, let's come again next time."
Then he took the radishes and went home.
Xia Shiyu breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that it was finally over. These people were too strong today; he almost couldn't handle them.
She asked with concern, "Mom, are you alright? Are you tired?"
Yu Juan waved her hand, saying that although she had been busy, she wasn't very tired. "I'm fine. Let's tidy up these things and find a place to rest."
Even though the customers have left, the baskets and trash they left behind still need to be cleaned up.
Some people who had received the news came along the way, but unfortunately, they were all gone.
"What! The radishes are gone!"
The person who arrived was on the verge of tears, saying, "How could it just be gone? I was delayed by something and arrived a little late."
"I didn't check the group messages. I only found out today. I was planning to come and take a look, but it's all gone now."
Xia Shiyu could only try to calm the excited crowd, "Don't worry, everyone. Keep an eye on the messages I post in the group. I'll be back in a few days."
With things having come to this, these people had no choice but to leave dejectedly.
After finally seeing everyone off, Xia Shiyu finished tidying up and turned to her mother, saying, "Mom, let's go over there."
"it is good"
The two went to rest on the other side.
Xia Shiyu felt that her back was slightly damp with sweat. That's the problem with winter clothes. With extra layers underneath, it can be uncomfortable if they get wet with sweat. Older people are also more prone to catching a cold.
She picked up her thermos, took a sip of hot water, and then suggested, "Mom, let's go eat clay pot rice noodles. I remember there's a really good clay pot rice noodle place around here."
"Okay, sure. I think I've been here before. I remember there's a noodle shop here that's pretty good."
After Xia Shiyu parked the car, he took his mother to a clay pot rice noodle shop.
The owner grabbed a handful of off-white rice noodles and placed them in the time-worn casserole, where they rose in the steam along with other vegetables and plump meatballs.
As the flames below slowly simmered, a fragrant aroma wafted from the pot, enticing passersby.
Looking at the fact that most of the seats inside were occupied and smelling the wonderful aroma, Xia Shiyu knew that the rice noodles must be excellent.
She and her mother found a place to sit down. As soon as they sat down, someone brought them a plate of pickled radishes. Xia Shiyu looked at the radishes in front of her and picked one up with her chopsticks to taste it.
"Hmm, it's quite delicious. It has a subtle sweetness, unlike the pickled radishes we usually make."
After Yu Juan picked up a piece and finished eating, she nodded, "It's delicious and quite appetizing."
Although the radishes themselves weren't as good as those they grew themselves, the owner's unique cooking skills made them taste exceptionally delicious.
"Your rice noodles are ready, enjoy them." The owner smiled and placed the rice noodles in front of them.
Xia Shiyu and Yu Juan took it. Xia Shiyu first took a sip of the soup with a spoon. The soup was still hot, but it was very delicious and comforting.
