Chapter 6 Ethan Hartley
Chapter 6 Ethan Hartley
Because I remained unconscious until morning, I managed to catch the last train when I returned to the train station.
"You're back so early." When I returned to the academy, it was the same gatekeeper. I nodded to him and went inside.
It was six in the morning, still early for a student, especially since it was the weekend. I thought to myself as I quietly made my way to my dorm. "Well, now I should be able to start trying out the training facilities."
I don't like being in crowded places, especially during training and study, so most of the time I use the facilities when there are fewer people.
Looking around, I felt both comfortable and at ease. The tranquil atmosphere of the early morning permeated the entire college. The cool morning breeze and the deserted roads brought me comfort.
But my eyes didn't miss some details: beverage bottles carelessly discarded on the ground... the fishy smell of fermenting food scraps permeating the air... and fingernail marks on the trees...
All of this information was something I had never seen before, which shows how special my characteristics and perceptual insights are.
......
Back in my dorm, I changed into some light clothes and started thinking about how to train my body and which career path to prioritize.
"First, I should buy some materials to make a potion to improve training efficiency." In the game, it is common for many veteran players to make their own potions.
Because there are many details in the game, it's better to craft your own potions than to buy them directly. In most cases, crafted potions are more effective than those bought directly.
However, it is essential to know which materials to use to achieve which effects, which is one of the most discussed topics among players on game forums, and I am also one of the participants.
Currently, using overly advanced potions does more harm than good, while ordinary potions don't achieve the effects I want. Moreover, one's needs should be chosen based on their own condition.
After deciding what kind of potion I wanted to make, I started ordering the materials online. Fortunately, it wasn't as expensive as I had expected.
Looking at my bank account now, I only have 783 walers left. "Looks like I need to make some money soon."
Money is a very important thing no matter where you go, especially in this world where danger is everywhere.
"But I need to strengthen myself first."
With that in mind, I picked up my gear and left the dormitory.
......
When I arrived at the training venue, a magnificent and tall building stood before me. It served as the academy's activity center and growth hub.
On the surface alone, it is clear that the college has invested a huge amount of money.
But that's normal, after all, the students here are the guardians of humanity's future.
Upon entering the building, a tranquil environment greets you. Since it's still early, there aren't many students yet; only a few diligent students can be seen training.
The training building has many areas and departments that provide students with opportunities for efficient training.
The fighting arena—an open space decorated with various formations to protect students from serious injury—now displays some combat between older students, sparks flying everywhere.
Shooting Range—A dedicated area for rangers, featuring targets at varying distances.
Seeing the shooting range, an idea popped into my head. "My skills and traits are quite suitable for being a ranger."
I'd never considered this before because I've always been a melee fighter, but my skills and traits are better suited to being a ranger. Also, one of the effects described in the 'Moon' skill description is enhanced projectiles.
This means I can use mana to infuse arrows, bullets, projectiles, and so on. And my 'Sharp Eyes' skill gives me excellent eyesight.
Based on these aspects alone, I seem perfectly suited to be a wandering knight. However, fantasies are always beautiful, and reality may be quite different. It's best not to make a choice too early without fully understanding yourself.
With that thought in mind, I continued walking down the corridor of the training room, observing everything more closely. There, I saw a space that was more open than the other places.
Elemental Training Room—A training room specifically designed to simulate different elemental environments, allowing students to adapt to various elemental environments and train their magical abilities of different attributes.
Because this is a place that stimulates different conditions, it consumes a lot of resources, and most of the time, only students with higher rankings can enter here.
After walking for a while, I arrived at the last training location.
This is a space filled with mannequins, prepared for those who practice close combat.
The 'Simulation Center' is the name of this place; it's a place used to improve special skills.
"what!"
A whooshing sound reached my ears, followed by several slashing sounds. I turned my gaze to the source of the sound and saw a long spear moving back and forth swiftly and precisely.
My gaze settled on the source of the sound; the person was the protagonist of the game—Ethan Hartley.
Ethan Hartley—anyone who's played this game will recognize this name. His blue hair gleamed under his sweat as he moved with elegance, his spear a blurry, indistinct shadow. Each strike he delivered generated a gust of wind, enough to injure the training dummies.
"Hmph...Hmph..." The moment he stopped, I could vaguely see his face.
A face radiating strength and confidence met my gaze. Ethan's light brown eyes sparkled with a warm light, their captivating depth drawing the eye. Those eyes seemed to reflect his unwavering focus and passion for his craft.
His sharply defined jawline accentuated his face, adding a touch of refinement to his already delicate features. His perfectly styled blue hair complemented his face, enhancing his striking appearance. Even with beads of sweat on his forehead, his skin radiated a flawless glow, elevating his overall charm.
His bright, light brown eyes were fixed firmly on his spear as he raised his weapon once more to stab the dummy.
"what!"
With a shout, he began to swing his spear and attack the dummy again.
Ethan Hartley is the protagonist of the game; he was born into a family of hunters. The Hartley family.
The Hartley family has a long tradition of elite hunters, renowned for their exceptional skills and lineage. Each member of this family holds a highly prestigious position within the hunter's profession.
However, unlike his family members, Ethan was considered a loser from the very beginning of the story because he was initially unable to awaken his powers. Therefore, he was largely ignored by the family members in the competition for the inheritance.
But when he was 17, he witnessed a little girl being killed by a monster.
He stepped forward, shielding the little girl with his own body. Even though he was still an unawakened being, he still moved forward with his life. As his life was about to end, the scene cuts to Ethan's dream and awakening.
This is how the game begins. From then on, the Academy arc begins. His family learns of his awakening and sends him to one of the best academies in the world.
He entered the prestigious Arcadia Hunter Academy, where he would receive rigorous training and education to become a powerful hunter. The academy served as a central hub for hunters from all walks of life, allowing Ethan to interact with diverse individuals and develop friendships or rivalries.
However, as he was a newly awakened individual, he was initially one of the lowest-ranked students in the academy. But due to his diligence, studiousness, and fearless nature, his ranking rose rapidly. Furthermore, he had learned skills from his father before entering the academy, setting him apart from the others.
Despite his exceptional abilities, Ethan is easygoing, approachable, and known for his heroic nature and helpfulness. His sense of justice and willingness to risk his life to protect innocent lives quickly earned him a reputation. His affable personality and charismatic demeanor made him popular among his classmates and earned him the respect of both friends and rivals.
This was Ethan Hartley's initial character: a good person who would do anything to save others.
As I pondered this, I walked toward the training dummy and began wielding my dagger.
