Chapter 14: Do it yourself
Chapter 14: Do it yourself
She approached Lin Rusi, her gaze icy, her voice as cold as ice, "But I don't need your help!"
"Don't try to help me out of your own goodwill in the future. Even without you, I can still make the Third Prince give up."
Lin Rusi nodded sincerely, "With your intelligence, you can definitely do it."
Lin Ruqin felt as if she had punched cotton.
She clenched her fists, her hatred for Lin Rusi intensifying, though it wasn't outwardly apparent.
"Sister, I'm helping you to make up for past mistakes."
Lin Rusi then added, "I know the mistakes I made against you in the past are unforgivable, but I always have to do something before I leave."
"Otherwise, I'll regret it even more later."
Lin Ruqin scoffed coldly, as if she had heard a joke, "Whatever."
After saying that, she turned and left.
Watching her receding figure, Lin Rusi sighed softly.
Changing Lin Ruqin's attitude towards her will be a long and arduous task.
But it's okay, doing something is always better than doing nothing.
Meanwhile, at the Third Prince's residence.
The crackling sounds came from the study and were incessant.
The steward and a group of maids and servants stood trembling outside the tightly closed study, their faces ashen.
Only when the sounds of things being smashed stopped did the steward dare to open the door and let the maids in to tidy up.
Because of anger, Li Zeyan's fair face turned bright red, and his eyes became bloodshot.
He slumped into the chair, panting heavily, exuding a cold and ruthless aura.
The maids who were packing were all afraid of him, so they all lowered their heads, held their breath, and dared not make a sound.
"Oh."
A gasp rang out, and the study, which had been quiet except for the sound of footsteps, fell completely silent.
The steward and maids in the study knelt down like frightened birds.
Li Zeyan raised his eyes and looked towards the maid huddled in the corner, following the sound.
The little maid was terrified; her body trembled like a leaf, and her face was completely pale.
She accidentally pricked her hand with a shard of porcelain and couldn't help but cry out.
She knelt on the ground, watching Li Zeyan approach with fear and unease, tears streaming down her face.
In a panic, she began to kowtow, making a series of muffled thuds.
"Your Highness, I was wrong!"
"This servant will never dare to do it again!"
The little maid was sobbing uncontrollably, her face covered in tears.
Li Zeyan half-squatted down, lifted the maid's face, and asked without changing his expression, "What is it?"
"It's just a cut on your hand, is it really necessary to cry like this?"
"Am I that scary?"
The maid nodded first, then realized something and nodded repeatedly.
The steward sensed something was wrong and whispered, "Third Prince, she's new here and doesn't know the rules yet..."
"Heh, so how did you manage to be a housekeeper?!"
"Do it yourself."
The butler's expression tightened, and he began to slap himself.
The maid was terrified and didn't dare to breathe.
The next second, a slap landed squarely on her face, and the maid screamed and fell to the ground.
The others lowered their heads even further. The Third Prince, his face contorted with rage, grabbed a maid's hair and roared, "Get out of here, all of you!"
No one dared to linger and they all fled the study.
The maid's screams echoed in the study, and there were occasional crashes as things fell to the ground, before all was quiet.
Li Zeyan looked down at the maid who had been beaten beyond recognition on the ground, a slight smile playing on his lips.
