Chapter 17: The Fox
Chapter 17: The Fox
Just as Lin Rusi was lost in thought, a chuckle interrupted her chaotic thoughts.
King Jinglie held his teacup, took a sip of tea, and smiled slyly, "This is the first time I've ever heard of such a novel thing."
Lin Rusi felt a little relieved, and the corners of her lips curled up slightly. "The world is full of wonders. Thinking about it this way, my daughter's dream is not so strange."
"Too."
Seeing that King Jinglie did not continue to ask questions, Lin Rusi's tense nerves relaxed a little.
However, we still can't relax too much.
Lin Rusi glanced at Prince Jinglie out of the corner of her eye. He was holding a teacup and gazing thoughtfully at the shimmering blue lake outside the window.
He really is unpredictable.
King Jinglie withdrew his gaze and looked at Lin Rusi again, suddenly asking, "What do you think of me?"
"what?"
The unexpected question left Lin Rusi somewhat bewildered.
King Jinglie's expression was unusually serious, as if he valued Lin Rusi's evaluation very much.
She was a little overwhelmed and truthfully replied, "I have met the Prince twice, this is the second time."
"I really don't know how to answer."
King Jinglie rested his chin on his hand, his eyes narrowed like a fox's.
He leaned closer to Lin Rusi, his gaze towards her becoming more meaningful.
What was your first impression?
"Hmm... at first glance."
Lin Rusi dared not say anything against her conscience, after all, she was facing a prince with a very deep mind.
If you exaggerate too much, he'll think you're being hypocritical.
Lin Rusi's eyes darted around, and without any concealment, she spoke her mind frankly.
"This humble girl believes... believes that Your Highness is like a fox."
King Jinglie was very surprised.
Why a fox?
Lin Rusi avoided Jing Lie Wang's direct gaze and explained slowly, "The king looks like a fox, and he also has the cunning of a fox."
To avoid any misunderstanding from Prince Jinglie, Lin Rusi quickly added, "The fox doesn't mean Your Highness is ugly, but rather that Your Highness looks as beautiful and alluring as a fox."
"The sense of cunning of the fox is just... my own feeling, Your Highness, please don't misunderstand."
After saying this, King Jinglie burst into laughter.
"Your words are quite amusing; you're the first to compare me to a fox."
Lin Rusi felt ashamed and whispered, "Your Highness is extremely intelligent, and I dare not lie, so I will tell you the truth."
"If Your Highness finds this offensive, I will accept the punishment."
King Jinglie waved his hand, laughing freely, "I don't feel offended, nor am I angry."
He was languid and relaxed, saying, "I just want to get to know you."
Lin Rusi tugged at the corners of her lips and returned a smile, "Well, since we understand, I would like to ask if Your Highness has any woman in mind?"
"Hahaha, do I look like I do?"
Lin Rusi frowned; this was a direct challenge thrown at her.
Before she could answer, King Jinglie looked into the distance and asked out of the blue, "Do you know why I chose this position?"
Lin Rusi secretly grumbled to herself.
She's not him, how would she know why he chose this position?
Isn't this making things difficult for people?
"With the rippling blue waves and a gentle breeze on your face, being able to spend time with a beautiful woman in such bright weather is truly one of life's greatest pleasures."
Lin Rusi twitched the corners of her lips, a forced smile, and nodded slightly, feigning agreement.
King Jinglie then asked Lin Rusi some questions, ostensibly to get to know her better.
Lin Rusi would also ask him questions, but Prince Jinglie would either change the subject or talk about something else, trying to get away with it as much as possible.
