Chapter 46 Staying in the hotel
Chapter 46 Staying in the hotel
Upon hearing Li Tian's question, Huan Yuechu nodded gently and replied softly, "Of course, please come in, guest." After speaking, she turned to the side and gestured for him to enter.
Li Tian hesitated for a moment, secretly wondering whether he should ask this unfamiliar girl about the Double Ninth Festival.
After some internal struggle, he finally mustered his courage, looked into Huan Yuechu's eyes, and said sincerely, "Young lady, to be honest, I didn't come here just to stay at an inn. I came specifically to find a man named Chongyang. I wonder if he lives here?"
The moment those two words—Double Ninth Festival—entered my ears, a strong sense of vigilance immediately surged into my heart.
Could this kid have gotten into some big trouble again, or provoked someone he shouldn't have? Thinking of this, my expression turned serious, and my eyes were filled with doubt and unease.
So I put on a stern face and said seriously, "I'm sorry, I don't know this person you're talking about, let alone have him stay at my hotel! May I ask what business you have with him?"
At this moment, Li Tian, who was standing in front of him, visibly breathed a sigh of relief and quickly explained, "Please don't misunderstand, I am Chongyang's good friend. I recently heard that he was injured and was very worried, so I came here to visit him."
After listening to Li Tian's words, I couldn't help but look him up and down thoughtfully.
My mind raced, trying to recall everything about Chongyang, but I couldn't remember him ever mentioning that he had such a friend. And how could I not know about Chongyang's injury!
The more I thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed. As the saying goes, no one visits the temple without a reason. This person suddenly appeared and claimed to be Chongyang's good friend. I'm afraid he has ill intentions!
Despite my inner speculation, I remained outwardly calm and replied, "I see. But I'm sorry, I really don't know who this Chongyang you mentioned is."
Upon hearing this, Li Tian felt that he might have been tricked again, and he was immediately enraged.
But he wouldn't give up so easily; he would definitely find out what connection this inn had with Chongyang. In reality, he was unwilling to admit that he had been tricked twice.
Li Tian, his face contorted with anger, followed Huan Yuechu into the hotel.
The hotel's interior was simply yet comfortably furnished, exuding a warm atmosphere. Li Tian sat down on the sofa, his mood gradually calming down.
Li Tian decided to hold back and observe the situation first. He asked Huan Yuechu some basic information about the hotel, showing great interest in it.
Huan Yuechu answered Li Tian's questions calmly, while secretly observing his every move.
Afterwards, Li Tian left for a while under some pretext, but in reality, he secretly sent his men to various places to inquire about Chongyang's news.
He was determined to find out the truth and locate Chongyang.
Li Tian decided to stay there first and then investigate slowly. He asked Huan Yuechu for a room, and I smiled and nodded, arranging a room for him on the second floor.
That night, Li Tian tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. He felt that the hotel had a mysterious atmosphere, as if it were hiding some secret.
Just then, he heard a light footstep coming from downstairs.
Li Tian quietly got up, walked to the door, and peeked out through the crack. He saw a figure walk down the corridor and head towards a room on the first floor.
Li Tianxin became suspicious and decided to follow them to see what was going on. He carefully went downstairs, trying not to make a sound.
As he reached the door of the room, he heard voices coming from inside. He leaned closer to the door, eavesdropping on the conversation. "This plan must be flawless..." a deep voice said.
Li Tian's heart raced; he felt as if he were getting closer to the truth.
He was about to push the door open when he found it locked.
Just as he was thinking about how to get in, a voice came from behind him: "What are you doing?" Li Tian turned around and saw Huan Yuechu standing behind him with a wary look on her face.
"I...I heard noises inside, so I came to check," Li Tian explained somewhat flusteredly.
"This is a guest's room. It's impolite of you to barge in like this," Huan Yuechu said sternly.
Seeing this, Li Tian quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, I was just curious. I'll leave right away."
He turned to leave, but Huan Yuechu called out to him, "Wait, is there something you're hiding from me?"
Li Tian stopped and turned to look at Huan Yuechu nervously, saying, "I...no, I just came to stay overnight."
Huan Yuechu scrutinized him: "You seem restless the whole time. Are you looking for someone?"
Li Tian hesitated for a moment, but decided to be honest: "Yes, I'm looking for someone named Chongyang. He's very important to me."
"Chongyang? Didn't you already ask? I already said I didn't know him." I said this in a serious tone, making up a lie.
Li Tian then asked, "Have you seen a strange person these past few days?"
“Strange people?” I thought for a moment. “Everyone has their own characteristics, so it’s hard to say who is strange.”
Li Tian seemed somewhat disappointed. "Okay, thank you. If you have any leads, please let me know."
I nodded: "Don't worry, I'll let you know if there's any news. But don't worry too much, maybe the Double Ninth Festival will arrive soon. It's getting late, you should get some rest."
Li Tian gave me a grateful look, then returned to his room. Lying in bed, his thoughts were still in turmoil. Where was Chongyang? What secrets did this inn hold? Li Tian decided to continue searching for the answers…
Li Tian lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. He felt there was a mysterious atmosphere surrounding the hotel, as if it were hiding some secret. He decided to explore it further.
The next morning, Li Tian got up early and began wandering around the hotel. He carefully observed the layout of each room, trying to find some clues. As he passed a room at the end of the corridor, he noticed that the door was ajar, so he gently pushed it open and went inside.
A faint fragrance filled the room, and Li Tian couldn't help but wrinkle his nose.
He looked around and noticed a strange painting hanging on the wall. The figures in the painting had blurry faces, making it impossible to discern their features.
Li Tian approached for a closer look and suddenly felt that the figure in the painting seemed to have moved slightly. He was startled, rubbed his eyes, and when he looked again, the painting had returned to normal.
Was he seeing things? Li Tian was filled with doubt.
Li Tian felt there was something strange about the painting, and he decided to take it down to examine it.
When he reached out to touch the picture frame, his fingers seemed to be sucked in by something.
Li Tian was startled and tried to break free, but found that his body was completely unable to move.
