Chapter 118 The Chaotic Heavenly Ball
Chapter 118: The Chaotic Heavenly Ball
Liu Yu and his companions continued their journey with the little monster. One day, they unexpectedly received an invitation from the Heavenly Palace to attend a grand ball.
Filled with curiosity and anticipation, everyone arrived at the Heavenly Palace. Upon entering the ballroom, Liu Yu was utterly stunned by the luxurious scene before him. The magnificent palace, the dazzling lights, and the melodious celestial music made him feel as if he were in a dream.
Liu Yu looked around excitedly and saw a fairy dancing gracefully. He couldn't resist going over to invite her, but he accidentally stepped on her skirt. The fairy stumbled and fell to the ground, ruining her makeup. The fairy glared angrily at Liu Yu, who quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, fairy sister, I didn't mean to."
Xu Xian and Xiao Qing chuckled to themselves, while Bai Suzhen shook her head helplessly.
Liu Yu awkwardly stepped aside. Just then, a plump deity walked over and invited Liu Yu to dance. Liu Yu gladly agreed, but after only a few steps, the deity's heavy body caused Liu Yu to lose her balance, and the two of them fell to the ground, rolling several times, which made the surrounding deities burst into laughter.
Liu Yu finally managed to get up and was about to find a place to rest when she accidentally bumped into a palace maid carrying fruit, scattering the fruit all over the ground. The maid complained, "You clumsy fool, can't you watch where you're going?" Liu Yu could only keep apologizing.
Xu Xian laughed and said, "Liu Yu, you're really good at causing trouble." Liu Yu scratched his head and said, "I didn't want to either. This place is too big, and I'm a little dizzy."
At the ball, the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother of the West were seated on high thrones, enjoying the dance. Liu Yu, curious, leaned closer to watch, but accidentally stepped on the Queen Mother's skirt, nearly causing her to fall. The Jade Emperor's face darkened: "How dare you, a mortal, be so disrespectful!" Liu Yu, terrified, immediately knelt and begged for forgiveness.
Bai Suzhen quickly came to the rescue: "Jade Emperor, Queen Mother, please calm down. He is new here and does not know the rules." Only then did the Jade Emperor let it go.
Liu Yu slunk away to the side, where he saw a glass of fine wine on the table. He picked it up and drank it all in one gulp, unaware that it was a specially made wine by the gods, with an exceptionally strong effect. Before long, Liu Yu felt dizzy and began to ramble incoherently at the dance, even performing strange dances that made everyone laugh uproariously.
Xiaoqing laughed so hard she couldn't stand up straight: "Brother-in-law, look how drunk you are!"
Just then, an instrument played by a deity suddenly went out of tune, turning the originally beautiful music into something jarring and unpleasant. Liu Yu covered her ears and shouted, "Stop playing! It sounds awful!" The deity awkwardly stopped playing.
Halfway through the ball, the selection of the best dancer began. Liu Yu volunteered to participate. He confidently went on stage, but because of his clumsy steps, he tripped and fell, which drew laughter from the audience.
Xu Xian said helplessly, "Liu Yu, you'd better stop making a fool of yourself."
Liu Yu didn't care and continued to jump around on stage.
Finally, the ball ended amidst chaos and laughter.
As Liu Yu and the others left the Heavenly Palace, Liu Yu continued to reminisce about the fun at the ball, laughing incessantly.
They continued their journey and arrived at a small town. A temple fair was being held in the town, and it was bustling with activity.
Liu Yu saw a mask stall, picked up a Sun Wukong mask, put it on, and began to imitate Sun Wukong's movements, attracting passersby to stop and watch.
Just then, a child ran over, wanting Liu Yu's mask. Liu Yu teased him, "No, no, it's mine." The child burst into tears.
Liu Yu quickly gave the mask to the child: "Don't cry, don't cry, here you go."
They continued strolling through the temple fair when they saw a juggler performing fire-breathing. The fire landed on his own hair, setting it ablaze. Liu Yu quickly ran over to help put out the fire.
The artist said gratefully, "Thank you so much, young man."
Liu Yu smiled and said, "It's no big deal."
Just then, Liu Yu saw a vendor selling candied hawthorns and wanted to buy a skewer to try. He asked the vendor, "How much are the candied hawthorns?"
The stall owner said, "Three coins a skewer."
Liu Yu said, "It's too expensive, can you make it cheaper?"
The stall owner said, "I can't lower the price any further; these are top-quality candied hawthorns."
Liu Yu had no choice but to buy a skewer. He took a bite and immediately discovered it was incredibly sour. He said, "This is way too sour; I can't eat it at all."
The stall owner said, "Sourness is what whets the appetite."
Liu Yu was both amused and exasperated.
They played at the temple fair for a while and then left the town.
In the evening, they arrived at a temple. A Buddhist ceremony was being held there, and many people were burning incense and praying to Buddha.
Liu Yu also bowed, silently praying for good luck.
After leaving the temple, they found an inn to stay at.
That night, Liu Yu lay in bed and quickly fell asleep. In his dream, he returned to the ball in the Heavenly Palace, continuing those hilarious farces...
