Chapter 45 A Joyful and Harmonious Moment
Wang Duoduo, who received the news of Lin Weiwei's return last night, brought her two cubs over this morning. Lin Weiwei hadn't gotten up yet, so she put her two cubs in the playpen to play with the eight little ones.
"Zehao, go ahead and do your work! I'll take care of the kids." After saying that, he moved a wooden stool over and sat down to the side.
"Okay, I'll go cook some meat porridge. Have you eaten yet? If not, I'll cook more," Zehao asked.
"Not yet, I'll come over as soon as I wake up," Wang Duoduo replied.
Zehao nodded and went to the kitchen to get busy.
Wang Duoduo watched the children playing inside the enclosure, a happy smile on her face. Just then, she noticed that her smallest cub, a white lion, was trying to climb onto the backs of the other cubs, but accidentally fell off.
Wang Duoduo couldn't help but laugh out loud, thinking how mischievous and adorable her little white lion was. She walked closer to the enclosure, gently stroking the little white lion's head to comfort it and tell it not to be anxious.
At this moment, Lin Weiwei and You Hao brought the four little ones out of the cave. Knowing Wang Duoduo was coming, she felt too embarrassed to continue sleeping.
"You've come so early," Lin Weiwei said.
"Weiwei, I missed you so much! That's why I came over first thing this morning," Wang Duoduo said, walking over and taking Lin Weiwei's arm.
"Aren't you busy taking care of the baby? You still have time to think about me?" Lin Weiwei asked her with a smile.
“Your older brother also helps take care of the child. When you're not home, your older brother brings the kid over to play, so I feel bad coming over.”
"Weiwei, how far along are you in your pregnancy?" Wang Duoduo asked.
"It should be three months! I haven't been counting the days one by one."
"That's about the same as Ya Ya, who is three months and two days old," Wang Duoduo said.
"How do you know so much about how many days pregnant Ya Ya is?" Lin Weiwei asked curiously.
"She counts the days in front of me every day, how could I not know?" Wang Duoduo had just finished speaking when she saw Chen Yaya and Hua An approaching.
"Weiwei, you're back!" After saying that, he picked up Ze Xinyi. Ze Xinyi nestled on her second uncle's shoulder, clearly showing how close she was to him.
"Second Brother, you've come too."
Youhao brought out bowls and chopsticks from the kitchen, while Zehao carried a steaming bowl of meat porridge, saying, "Time to eat, time to eat."
Seeing that there was only meat porridge, Lin Weiwei went into the kitchen and brought out steamed buns and fried dough sticks she had bought from her spatial storage. She placed each in a large wooden basin, and just as she brought them out, Wang Duoduo saw them and quickly came over to help her.
"Youhao, there's another bowl of fried dough sticks inside. Go and bring it out."
The ten cubs ate steamed buns and milk, while the four little ones ate steamed buns and meat porridge. However, the meat porridge was first served in a small half-bowl so it would cool down quickly, and more was served after the porridge was finished.
On the adults' table were meat porridge, steamed buns, and fried dough sticks. Just as they were about to start eating, the clan chief rushed in.
"My children, you're back," the clan chief asked Lin Weiwei.
"You're back, Father. Let's have breakfast together."
"Okay, Father came from the planting area for breakfast. Zexuan and Yeying told me when they went hunting that they wanted me to come and take Xinyi and the others to play."
"Father, is the tribe very busy? If so, could you choose someone trustworthy to be your deputy?" Lin Weiwei asked with concern.
“Look at you all, look at you all! The little brats only care about their father, unlike those two rascals, Zexuan and Zehao. I raised them from childhood, and I've never heard them say a word of concern for me,” she said, answering Lin Weiwei’s question.
"My dear child, your father isn't busy. If he really is, he'll ask your father for help. Your father and I are not only in-laws, but also brothers who grew up together. Don't worry! Your father will handle it."
Zehao wasn't angry at being scolded; instead, he cheerfully handed the clan leader a bowl of meat porridge and even filled the four little ones' bowls with extra porridge.
Everyone sat together, chatting and laughing as they enjoyed their delicious breakfast. The children ate with relish. Halfway through the meal, Lin's mother arrived with four beastmen.
"Father, Mother, Second Father, Third Father, Fourth Father, come and eat quickly," Lin Weiwei asked.
The remaining members of the younger generation, including the second brother, Chen Yaya, Wang Duoduo, Zehao, and Youhao, greeted Lin's parents.
"You eat, we ate our fill before we came," Lin's father replied.
"What do you mean 'you' and 'our'? Sit down and eat together. These are our own children; who are you and me to talk about?" the clan chief said sternly to Lin's father and the others.
The clan chief had spoken, and Lin's parents sat down. Only Fourth Father went to see the ten young cubs. Some cubs had eaten their fill, so he helped wipe their mouths and wash their faces before taking them to the enclosure. He also helped feed the ones that hadn't eaten enough.
Lin Weiwei wanted to tell the fourth father not to interfere, that the children would eat on their own.
At this moment, Lin's mother spoke up, "Weiwei, don't worry about him. The children aren't full, so he won't eat. Just like when you were little, if you weren't full, your fourth uncle wouldn't eat."
The family enjoyed breakfast together in a warm and harmonious atmosphere, which Lin Weiwei really appreciated.
