Chapter 1529: Do You Really Hate Me That Much?
Looking at his agitated appearance, Celeste Linden reached out to push him, "Who I like or don’t like has nothing to do with you, please let go of me!"
Ethan Barnes suddenly realized that not only was Celeste Linden the type Daniel Langdon liked, but she also liked Daniel’s type, while he himself seemed like an outsider. This struck him as utterly ridiculous.
"Celeste Linden, why won’t you answer me? Hurry up and answer me!" He shook her shoulders relentlessly, almost making her nauseous with the motion.
Slap.
Celeste Linden reached out and slapped him across the face.
Ethan Barnes was caught off guard by the slap that turned his face sideways, leaving him stunned.
He hadn’t expected her to hit him; the only woman daring enough to slap him like that was her.
"Did that slap sober you up? Ethan Barnes, what right do you have to ask me this question? You can imprison me, take my body, but my heart is free. I will never fall for a devil like you, and it’s none of your business if I like another man."
"I advise you to go back to your new house. If your bride opens her eyes and finds you not by her side, who knows what kind of commotion that will cause. You should take care of your own matters first!"
Celeste Linden reprimanded him with intense emotion, truly hating this man like she had never hated anyone before.
Ethan Barnes paused for a few seconds, and after a long while, turned his handsome face back, his previous aggressiveness had vanished, and he had completely calmed down.
He raised his eyes to look at Celeste Linden, "Do you really hate me that much?"
Celeste Linden responded with one word, "Yes."
Ethan Barnes sarcastically tugged at his thin lips, his eyes were so deep that it was impossible to know what he was thinking.
Suddenly, he reached out his hand.
"What are you doing? Don’t touch me!" Celeste Linden stiffened like a startled bird, watching him warily and instinctively dodging his outstretched hand.
Ethan Barnes’s hand froze, then he slowly said, "I don’t mean any harm, just let me feel the baby, then I’ll leave."
Celeste Linden didn’t know if he was telling the truth, but he didn’t give her a chance to refuse because his hand was already there, resting on her lower abdomen.
It was his first time touching her belly, his large palm covering her small belly carefully and gently, with a fatherly tenderness.
Celeste Linden’s body was stiff, unable to relax at all. She remembered how he used to say he didn’t like children, but now it seemed he did.
She looked up at the ceiling and said, "If you like children, you can have Carlotta give you one. Not just Carlotta, there are plenty of women out there, take your pick. You can have ten or eight children and form a basketball team if you want."
As soon as she finished speaking, the large hand on her belly stopped moving. Shortly after, he stood up and left directly.
He was gone.
She finally managed to drive him away.
Celeste Linden closed her eyes wearily, feeling more exhausted than she ever had before.
...
The next day, a maid came in, "Miss Linden, let’s pack up your things and leave here."
Celeste Linden’s eyelashes trembled, "Leave here, go where?"
"The master has instructed us to have you move out of here. A new place has been arranged for you to rest and nurture your pregnancy. Everything is there; you don’t need to bring anything except your personal belongings, Miss Linden."
Ethan Barnes found a place outside and wanted her to move there to take care of the pregnancy?
He had mentioned this plan initially, but Carlotta had vetoed it. Now, somehow he’s managed to settle things with Carlotta and even got her to agree to him keeping her there.
"Miss Linden, rest assured, the master has said that after you move, he won’t visit. You just need to focus on your pregnancy."
Celeste Linden thought of how the two of them had parted unhappily last night. She had told him to find another woman to have children. Clearly, that had angered him. He was a proud man in a high position and couldn’t tolerate that. He probably wouldn’t come to see her again.
Celeste Linden didn’t want to risk her body anymore. She had already experienced discomfort twice and wanted to protect this child. Right now, this child was everything to her.
She nodded in agreement, "Okay."
Celeste Linden moved into the new home, an incredibly luxurious villa, complete with a driver, a housekeeper, maids, and a chef. Ethan Barnes even arranged for a private doctor and a nutritionist to take care of her completely.
Celeste Linden settled in, and before she knew it, two months had passed. Ethan Barnes kept his promise, never appearing once, which allowed her to gradually find peace of mind.
She was over four months pregnant now, and her belly had started to show. However, given her slender frame and the layers of winter clothing she wore, no one would know she’s pregnant unless she mentioned it.
This day, a visitor arrived, and it was Daniel Langdon.
Daniel’s arrival surprised Celeste Linden greatly, "Mr. Langdon, how did you know I was living here?"
Daniel Langdon smiled, "I heard from Carlotta that you had moved out, so I made some inquiries. This property belongs to your cousin; it was easy to find out."
Cousin?
Celeste Linden looked at Daniel Langdon, "Did he say I’m his cousin?"
"Yes, last time I asked Ethan, and he said you’re a distant cousin."
Celeste Linden was surprised. She knew Ethan Barnes too well. He was incredibly possessive, allowing no interference with what he possessed, and willing to destroy what he couldn’t have.
Given his character, he should have told Daniel Langdon that she was his mistress or something, thereby eradicating Daniel’s interest in her while degrading her.
"How are my cousin and his wife?" Celeste Linden asked.
"Great. I grew up with Ethan; he had a wild streak before, but after marriage, he’s been devoted to Carlotta, coming home on time every night. He’s practically the new-age perfect husband now."
Celeste Linden curled her lips into a smile.
"Miss Linden, are you planning to have glutinous rice balls for dinner?" Daniel Langdon keenly noticed the maids preparing them by hand.
"Yes, it’s the 26th today. We’ll have some glutinous rice balls, and then it’s only four days until New Year’s Eve. The year has passed so quickly."
"I haven’t had dinner yet, so can I stay and have some glutinous rice balls with you tonight?" Daniel Langdon said with a gentle smile.
Daniel Langdon was gentle and refined, interacting comfortably like a spring breeze. Celeste Linden nodded, "Sure, and call me Celeste from now on."
"Celeste, alright, and you can call me by my name."
The two of them became acquainted quickly.
The chef soon cooked up the glutinous rice balls, and as fireworks began to spark in the night, the maid served them, and Daniel Langdon sat down.
Feeling a sense of bliss that evening, he snapped a photo of the rice balls and posted it on his social media.
