Chapter 581 - 582: A Frog in a Well Views the Sky [7/10]
At the same time, the Investiture of the Gods also detailed the weapon most suited for Si’er.
"It seems you’re quite fond of Supreme Treasures," Wu Tian said with a slight smile.
Si’er nodded. Being so young, she didn’t possess a Supreme Treasure. In the entire Xiuyuan Country, the royal family only owned two: the Xiuyuan Order and the Xiuyuan Sword. King Xiuyuan had only one son, Tianlong, who was also Si’er’s older brother. Tianlong, however, was unkind to her, and Si’er wanted nothing more than to infuriate him.
"Then, do you have a Supreme Treasure for me?" Si’er asked nervously, afraid he would say no and was just teasing her.
She quickly calmed herself. After all, how could Supreme Treasures be so easily obtained? The royal family only has two. How could he possibly have one?
Thinking this, Si’er’s voice grew fainter. "Actually, it’s okay if you don’t have one."
"You’re underestimating my dad too much," the little one chuckled. She knew her dad had many Supreme Treasures. Following him, she never had to worry about such things.
"I do have a Supreme Treasure," Wu Tian declared. After looking Si’er up and down, he flicked his wrist, and a fan appeared in his hand—a very beautiful one at that. Its design was ornate, seemingly meant for a young woman.
Seeing it, the little one shook her head, indicating her disapproval.
Si’er, however, was different. Her bright eyes immediately began to sparkle.
"Here, for you," Wu Tian said, personally handing the fan to her.
Wu Tian had no other intention as he handed it over, and their hands brushed lightly—a perfectly normal occurrence.
Feeling the warmth from Wu Tian’s hand, Si’er blushed. She was a princess! Who would dare touch her? From a young age, no man had ever been so close. Just as she felt nervous and uncertain, she heard Wu Tian speak. "Take it. This is the Jade Pure Kunlun Fan!"
Upon hearing this, Si’er’s first words were, "Is that the name of this fan?" Jade Pure Kunlun Fan... what a lovely name! But what is Jade Pure? What is Kunlun? She didn’t know.
She looked at Wu Tian and said, "Thank you, Brother Sect Leader."
Brother? A strange expression crossed Wu Tian’s face. Technically, by seniority, she should be calling me ’Old Ancestor.’ Her own ancestor was a friend of mine.
"As the Sect Leader, since I’ve given you a Supreme Treasure, I should also guide your cultivation," Wu Tian said. "Your Great Penetrating Fist is only at the Minor Achievement stage. That’s far too lacking."
Wu Tian mused for a moment. The Great Penetrating Fist is the royal family’s ultimate technique. I learned it myself after just a few glances back in the day. Now that the complete version of this technique has been lost to the royal family, I might as well return it to them.
"The opening principle of the Great Penetrating Fist is: to train this Divine Technique, one must have a will of steel and hands of iron! Absorb the qi of metal and stone for your own use!"
"How... how do you know?" Si’er was stunned. When I first heard he used the Great Penetrating Fist to kill the Regent King, I assumed it was just a similar Fist Technique. But now it seems it really is my family’s Great Penetrating Fist! How does he know it? Does he have some connection to my family?
"No need to guess. I do indeed have a bond with your family," Wu Tian stated.
Wu Tian recalled that, if he remembered correctly, the royal family’s ancestor was named Wuliang. He had been born of a royal affair; his father was the king, but his mother was a servant girl. As such, he had no claim to wealth or nobility. Lacking the delicate air of a pampered prince, he was instead hardened by toil and accustomed to hardship. Years ago, when a horde of beasts attacked the city, it had been the three of them—Wu Tian, Guang Changlin, and Wuliang—who stood together to fend off the beast tide.
"So... you know the complete Great Penetrating Fist?" Si’er asked excitedly. "Will you teach me, please?" I know my sister Yi Ren’s greatest wish is to complete the fragmented Great Penetrating Fist! If she finds out I have the complete version and I gave up this opportunity, she’d regret it to death!
"I can teach you, but your heart isn’t steely enough," Wu Tian said after a moment’s thought.
"I won’t be able to learn it?" Si’er felt a pang of sadness, at a loss for what to do. But she wasn’t angry, as she knew her own temperament. She was a vegetarian, as she felt eating meat was too bloody, and she would even chant sutras for her vegetables before eating them. So, when Wu Tian said her heart wasn’t steely enough, Si’er knew it was the truth.
"Don’t worry. I have a way to help you with this," Wu Tian said with a gentle smile.
"That’s great! Thank you!" Si’er was overjoyed. She walked over, clung to Wu Tian’s arm, and began jumping with excitement.
"What do you think you’re doing?!" an angry roar echoed. A figure burst in, bringing Yi Ren along without notifying the City Lord.
The newcomer was a white-haired elder emanating the aura of the Tongxuan Realm. As soon as he entered the backyard, the roots of the surrounding trees burst from the ground and coiled around their trunks. This was the elder’s Tongxuan vision: ’Old Tree’s Coiling Roots’! Anyone who cultivated to the Tongxuan Realm possessed such a vision.
"Princess Si’er, are you alright?" he rushed over to her and asked anxiously. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Si’er pull her hand from Wu Tian’s grasp.
"Teacher," Si’er said, startled as she gazed at the elder. "What are you doing here?"
The man who arrived with Yi Ren was none other than the royal tutor, Dao Zuo. He had been at home, pondering how to instruct the various princes and princesses, when Princess Yi Ren had suddenly arrived, claiming Princess Si’er had been deceived into joining some Heavenless Gate.
Heavenless Gate? Dao Zuo had never even heard of it. He immediately felt he could not ignore this matter. Thus, he rushed over with Yi Ren, only to arrive and see Si’er looking up at Wu Tian with admiration.
Si’er has been thoroughly bewitched! To have the audacity to bewitch a princess... this must be the work of a vile demon! And when it comes to demons, it is better to kill a thousand innocents than to let a single one escape.
"Princess, let’s return to the palace," he said to Si’er, after shooting Wu Tian a cold glare, warning him to stop bewitching the princess.
"Go back? No, the Sect Leader hasn’t taught me how to use the Supreme Treasure yet," Si’er replied, gazing down at the Jade Pure Kunlun Fan in her hand.
Supreme Treasure? Dao Zuo scoffed inwardly. The little princess has truly been tricked. A pretty fan... what kind of Supreme Treasure is that? Besides, what Sect would just give away a Supreme Treasure so easily? It’s impossible! The only explanation is that it’s a fake.
Unable to contain his anger, his eyes flashed with killing intent. He glared at Wu Tian and snarled, "Confess everything now. Don’t force me to beat it out of you. You’ll only embarrass yourself."
"How self-righteous," Wu Tian said, shaking his head. Like a frog at the bottom of a well, he sees only his tiny patch of sky and thinks it’s the entire world, ignorant of true immensity. A Supreme Treasure might be rare to others, but to me, it’s nothing special.
"What? You still won’t admit it? You still won’t confess your crimes?" Dao Zuo bellowed furiously.
