Spy Wars: Strong Agents Who Are Ruthless and Talk Little

Chapter 448 Thinking Silently

Chapter 448 Thinking Silently

Was he helping him, or pushing him step by step into the abyss? He couldn't be sure. For a moment, Su Ming even felt a fear he had never felt before - the fear that he would never be able to escape from this situation.

However, even so, he still didn't give up. He wasn't completely hopeless; at least he still had Zheng Yaoxian. Even though his trust in Zheng Yaoxian had begun to waver, for now, he still needed Zheng Yaoxian's help to get through this crisis.

The sudden vibration of his phone broke the brief silence. Su Ming quickly picked up the phone and checked the message on the screen. It was a message from Zheng Yaoxian:

"I know you're probably in the restroom. Don't panic, just be patient. Stay calm."

Su Ming's heartbeat quickened upon seeing this brief message. Though it contained only a few words, it evoked a wave of indescribable emotions. Zheng Yaoxian's knowledge of his presence meant he must have a method and was aware of the enemy's movements. But what, exactly, did this transmission of information signify?

Su Ming took a deep breath and quickly typed a reply on the phone screen:

"The situation has changed. I'm being watched. There are two people outside. They seem to know I'm coming in."

He hesitated for a moment, then quickly added, "Are we completely exposed? What do you think?"

After sending the message, Su Ming leaned against the wall of the storage room, closed his eyes, and felt a heavy feeling in his head. He suddenly felt that he was becoming more and more like a puppet being led around in this complex situation. All his actions seemed to have been arranged long ago, and all he could do was act according to these arrangements.

However, the feeling of waiting was far more torturous than the action itself. With each passing second, Su Ming could feel his inner anxiety and unease growing, as if it could explode at any moment. He couldn't help but begin to doubt whether he truly understood Zheng Yaoxian's intentions, whether he could truly trust him, or if all this was just another trap, set long in advance, waiting for him to fall into it step by step.

A few minutes later, the phone finally vibrated again, and Zheng Yaoxian's reply finally came.

"Your position has been exposed, but don't worry, I've already taken measures. Keep a low profile and wait for me."

In just a few words, calm and concise, Su Ming replied almost without thinking, "Can you ensure my safety?"

There was no answer. Perhaps it was unnecessary, or perhaps Zheng Yaoxian knew that any reply would change nothing. Su Ming stared at his phone screen in silence, a strange emptiness filling his heart. He knew Zheng Yaoxian had already begun to act, and he could only be a bystander, waiting for the outcome.

However, the wait proved far longer than he had anticipated. Time ticked by, each second adding to Su Ming's anxiety. His mind began to reel back to memories of his meeting, their collaboration, and their clashes with Zheng Yaoxian. Everything seemed to resurface before him in that moment. Back then, Zheng Yaoxian had been a partner he trusted completely, someone who remained calm and composed no matter the situation. But now, he had become so unfamiliar, as if he was no longer the same Zheng Yaoxian.

Su Ming gritted his teeth, trying to dispel the uneasy thoughts in his mind. Now, all he could do was wait. Wait for Zheng Yaoxian's response, for his next instructions.

Finally, footsteps were heard outside the door. Su Ming's body tensed up instantly. He quickly hid his phone in his pocket, exhaled softly, and held his breath.

The person outside the door walked very slowly, each step seemingly deliberately slowed down, as if waiting for an opportunity to strike. Su Ming's heartbeat almost drowned out the sounds outside the door. He could only lean tightly against the wall, trying not to make any sound.

After a few seconds, the footsteps finally stopped. Su Ming stared out the door, his gaze as sharp as a knife, fixed on the faint light that shone through the crack. He knew the enemy had arrived, and he needed to remain vigilant every second. No matter what, he couldn't expose himself to the enemy.

"If there are only two of us, we should be able to handle it." Su Ming thought to himself, constantly planning his next move.

His hand unconsciously touched the gun at his waist. The weight of the gun calmed him down a bit; at least he still had some means of fighting back. But this was only a temporary comfort. After all, what truly unnerved him was the invisible enemy behind him—Zheng Yaoxian.

"Will he come to save me, or..." Su Ming's thoughts floated again, and the voice in his heart sounded again: Zheng Yaoxian, is he an enemy or an ally?

Su Ming stared down at the ground beneath his feet, his heart beating faster and faster. Every breath was accompanied by an uncontrollable wave of anxiety. The people outside had already entered the bathroom. Although he hid in the shadows, he could feel the oppressive atmosphere, as if every tiny movement triggered unforeseen consequences. Every second, he kept thinking about how to escape, how to regain the control he had lost. This space, although small, felt like a huge trap, filled with hostility from all sides.

He could hear footsteps approaching outside. A calm man walked without haste, even with a familiar cadence. A name flashed through Su Ming's mind—he knew who it was. It had to be Li Jing. He had never met this man before, but he had clashed with him during several covert missions. Li Jing was a very calm man, decisive in his actions, and gave off an air of composure, as if everything was under his control.

"This time is no exception." Su Ming thought silently in his heart.

He knew what Li Jing's arrival meant—the enemy had already tracked his movements. His concealment might only delay the attack for a moment, but he would be discovered sooner or later.

The restroom door creaked slightly. Su Ming's heart skipped a beat, and the sounds in his ears seemed to become even clearer. The man was walking towards him. The sound of footsteps landed in the air, approaching, as if each step was beating against his heart.

"No more delay!" Su Ming cried out inwardly, every nerve in his body tense to the utmost. In the dim light of the restroom, he adjusted his posture slightly and quietly moved to the corner of the storage room, searching for a place to hide temporarily.
