Chapter 486 The secret door slowly opens

Chapter 486 The secret door slowly opens

"The enemy is coming." he whispered.

Without hesitation, the man grabbed Su Ming's arm and pulled him toward a secluded corner. Su Ming's reaction was almost reflexive, his agility so great that he avoided the enemy's sight in an instant. The two of them retreated silently into the shadows, their breathing rapid but steady. Su Ming's heartbeat was still pounding, but he knew that this moment of calmness could mean the difference between life and death.

Footsteps approached, and Su Ming's ears strained to catch every subtle sound. He could hear the rhythm of footsteps, the rustling of clothing, even the sound of breathing. Every detail allowed him to more clearly determine the enemy's position. The enemy was within ten meters of them, and Su Ming's heart nearly beat out of his chest. He took a deep breath, forcing himself to remain calm, his eyes fixed on the group's footsteps.

The man was also trembling slightly, but there was no trace of panic in his eyes. They both knew that silence at this moment was crucial; any sound would expose them. Su Ming's every nerve was on edge, his fingers unconsciously clenched, and his palms were slightly sweaty.

"They've passed," the man finally whispered, a hint of relief in his tone.

Su Ming didn't respond, his eyes still fixed on the front. He didn't let out a sigh of relief until the footsteps completely faded. He knew that, at this moment, they had escaped danger once again. But at the same time, he also understood that this was only temporary safety. The enemy would sooner or later discover their tracks again. He had to complete the mission quickly to have a chance of survival.

"We have to speed up." Su Ming said in a low voice, his eyes firm and his tone full of unquestionable calmness.

The man nodded and continued forward, leading Su Ming. The corridor grew narrower and narrower, the air thicker and thicker, as if every inch of space was filled with oppression. Su Ming's eyes had adjusted to the darkness, but his steps remained light and swift. Every turn, every shift, his movements were as natural as flowing water, with hardly a single unnecessary movement. Even in this tense environment, Su Ming's movements remained precise and unerring, as if he had become one with the darkness.

He knew that the precision of each of his steps determined whether he could successfully infiltrate the enemy and survive in this dangerous place. Every minute and every second was a game of life and death.

"The target area is ahead." The man suddenly stopped and said in a low voice.

Su Ming looked up, his gaze passing through the corridor ahead, and saw a heavy iron door. Behind the door, he could faintly hear a low, muffled conversation. It was the voice of the enemy, and Su Ming's heartbeat suddenly accelerated. He knew that he was about to face his greatest challenge yet.

"Are you ready?" the man asked in a low voice.

"I'm ready." Su Ming's voice was calm and firm, his eyes gleaming with determination. His fingers clenched again, his nails digging into his palms, but he didn't care. At this moment, he was no longer the confused Su Ming, but a warrior walking between life and death.

The atmosphere at the iron gate was incredibly tense. Su Ming took a deep breath, his mind rapidly replaying the teachings of his master, Zheng Yaoxian. His master had once taught him that when faced with a crisis, one shouldn't let emotions cloud judgment; calmness and decisiveness were paramount. Whenever he recalled his master's steady gaze, Su Ming found a sense of calm amidst the crisis, as if those training and teachings had become a part of him.

Without further hesitation, he reached out and pushed open the heavy iron door. It slowly swung open with a low creak, as if warning of what was about to happen. Su Ming's heartbeat quickened, but he knew that every second counted. Behind the iron door, a deeper darkness seemed to lurk.

"Go in." The man ordered in a low voice, with unquestionable firmness in his tone.

Su Ming didn't respond, knowing full well that every step ahead required caution. He exerted a slight force on his legs and silently stepped through the door. Behind the door lay a relatively spacious room, dimly lit, and the air was thick with a damp, musty smell. In the center of the room stood a table, scattered with documents and electronic equipment, clearly a work area. In the shadows of a corner, several surveillance devices operated silently. Su Ming's eyes quickly scanned them, silently memorizing their locations.

"We have to find a passage to deeper areas," the man whispered, his tone filled with urgency. "Time waits for no one."

Su Ming said nothing more, merely nodded, his gaze still fixed on his surroundings. Every detail was crucial; he knew the enemy's reaction speed was extremely fast, and if they weren't careful, they could be surrounded.

"Are you sure this road is safe?" Su Ming asked with a hint of doubt in his tone.

The man turned around and looked at him calmly. "You have to trust me, Su Ming. I'm familiar with this passage. This is the only way we can go through."

Su Ming took a deep breath, forcing himself to put aside his doubts. He didn't have many options in the current situation. He could only rely on this partner who had once fought alongside him, even though a trace of unease still lingered in his heart.

"Let's go." Su Ming said in a low voice, with a sense of determination in his tone.

They moved silently across the room, around the table, and toward a hidden door on the side. Su Ming took each step carefully, making almost no sound. As they approached, the hidden door slowly opened, revealing a narrow passage. A rotten smell filled the air, causing Su Ming to frown.

"Where does this passage lead to?" he whispered.

"It leads underground," the man replied calmly. "We must get down there, as quickly as possible."

Su Ming nodded, silently quickening his pace. Going underground meant greater danger, but it could also be their only chance of survival. At this moment, Su Ming's heartbeat was as intense as a drum, his mind swirling with thoughts. He knew everything before him was fraught with uncertainty, and he had to rely on every ounce of his intuition to escape this darkness.

They passed through a narrow passage and arrived at a spacious basement. The walls were covered with chains and tools, and the air was filled with the smell of rust. Su Ming's eyes quickly scanned the surroundings, and only after confirming that there were no enemy ambushes did he relax a little.

"Is it safe here?" Su Ming asked in a low voice.

"Safe for now," the man replied, "but we can't stay here for long. The enemy will soon notice."
