Chapter 551 Not Much Time
Chapter 551 Not Much Time
"Has it been too long since I've had a good meal?" Su Ming muttered to himself, a pang of sadness welling up in his heart. Long missions and a stressful life had long since made him forget how to enjoy life's simple pleasures. With every mission, every escape, he seemed to be drifting further away from that simple warmth. And now, standing in this deserted warehouse, he suddenly missed the warmth of his mother's bone soup.
"If I could have a bowl of bone soup, maybe I could relax a little." Su Ming closed his eyes and imagined the steaming pot of soup, the aroma and warmth flowing. His mother's loving face appeared in his mind, as if everything had returned to the past, back to that carefree time.
However, reality pulled him back from these warm memories. Su Ming opened his eyes, took a deep breath, and forced himself to wake up. Now he had no time to dwell on the past. He knew that his mission was far from complete. Zheng Yaoxian's conspiracy was still brewing in the dark, and he was still the one who had to grope forward in the darkness.
"Bone broth..." Su Ming murmured softly, a bitter smile playing on his lips. He knew it was just a distant fantasy. Now, he could no longer return to that simple world. Every step was fraught with danger, every decision a matter of life and death. And bone broth was but a soft spot in his heart, the only warmth he could touch in this endless struggle.
He withdrew his gaze from the night outside the window, took a deep breath, and forced himself to calm down again. Now was not the time to indulge in memories. Su Ming knew that only by staying calm could he find a chance to escape, protect those important information, and truly control his own destiny.
"When this mission is over, I must have a bowl of bone soup." Su Ming vowed to himself, silently setting a goal for himself. No matter what, he couldn't continue to lose himself. No matter how difficult it was, he had to persevere until the very end.
He glanced around once more, checking his surroundings to make sure no one was approaching. Then, he took a deep breath, turned, and headed for the warehouse exit, ready to continue. With each step, his resolve grew stronger. No matter how dangerous the road ahead, no matter how exhausted he felt, he had to keep going.
Su Ming's steps were slow, yet each one was filled with caution. The night outside the warehouse remained tranquil, with only the occasional bark of a distant dog as a reminder that everything around him was watching him. The uneasiness in his heart didn't completely dissipate; instead, it intensified the moment he left the warehouse. He took every turn and alley with caution. Zheng Yaoxian's influence was always there, poised to strike from the shadows.
"I have to find a place to hide quickly. I can't expose myself anymore." Su Ming thought to himself, his mind constantly replaying the tense moment just now. Every time he hid, every time he escaped, it seemed to drain his patience and energy. The current situation made it clear to him that he could not delay any longer.
He took a few steps, then suddenly stopped, his eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced ahead warily. A familiar figure appeared at a nearby street corner. Su Ming's heart skipped a beat; his intuition told him this person was one of Zheng Yaoxian's men. He was tall, his steps steady, and he carried an air of authority; clearly no ordinary patrolman.
"What's he doing?" Su Ming's heart tightened, a vague feeling that something was amiss. The man stood on the street corner, seemingly waiting for something. Occasionally, he looked up and around, his eyes filled with alertness and calmness. His movements were precise, as if he was maintaining contact with someone.
Su Ming held his breath and quietly moved closer, trying to hear the man's words more clearly. As the distance shortened, he finally heard some vague sounds. The man whispered, "Everything is ready. We can start tonight. You know what to do. Don't let anyone know."
Su Ming's heart trembled, and his eyes widened suddenly. He realized that Zheng Yaoxian's plan had entered its final stage, and this person was clearly communicating with others to make arrangements. At that moment, Su Ming felt a strong sense of crisis, and he realized that he had to act quickly to prevent this conspiracy from happening.
"Can we start tonight?" Su Ming repeated in a low voice, his brow furrowed, his heart churning. He knew he couldn't delay any longer. Zheng Yaoxian's plan was imminent, and if he didn't act quickly, everything would be irreversible.
He quietly circled to the other side of the street, avoiding the man's sight, his mind constantly calculating his next move. Now, his only recourse was the confidential document; only it could reveal Zheng Yaoxian's true purpose and allow him to find a breakthrough. However, the closer he got to the truth, the heavier Su Ming's heart grew. He knew he didn't have much time left and had to find a safe place and hand the documents over to someone he could trust.
"I can't be dragged down any further." Su Ming felt a surge of urgent anxiety. His eyes were fixed on the distant street corner. Zheng Yaoxian's men were still whispering to someone, seemingly unaware of his approach. Su Ming's mind raced, thinking about how to seize the opportunity to get closer and obtain more information.
He took soft, almost silent steps, approaching the man like a ghost. With each step, he silently told himself, "Don't expose yourself. Don't expose yourself." His heartbeat pounded in his ears, but he forced himself to remain calm. Every second of hesitation could be a fatal mistake.
"If I could hear more of their conversation, perhaps I could find their weakness," Su Ming thought to himself, his gaze locked on the man. Just as he was about to take a step closer, the man suddenly turned, as if he had noticed something. Su Ming's heart sank, and he instinctively took a few steps back, quickly hiding in the shadows nearby.
"Damn it!" He cursed inwardly, holding his breath, hardly daring to move. The man stood there, his eyes scanning the surroundings, seemingly wary. But as time passed, he didn't notice anything unusual, and finally turned and left, continuing to walk to the other end of the street.
