Chapter 423 Activating Permissions
Chapter 423 Activating Permissions
"Once the body is damaged, the chances of recovery are slim."
Sheng Xue spoke coldly and ruthlessly. Vivian had always wanted a child of her own, and hearing this broke her heart. At the same time, she felt hatred towards Vincent's mother.
Vincent was also heartbroken, but he never let go of Vivian's hand. "If we can't have children, then we won't. We'll find a way to adopt. We'll always be able to adopt a child."
Vincent thought about it and figured that given their financial situation, adopting a child probably wouldn't be too difficult. He was already set on his wife, and as for children, well, if they didn't have them, they didn't have them; you can't force it.
Vivian looked at Vincent, hugged him tightly, and was about to cry, but before she could cry out, Sheng Xue interrupted her, "Although the chances of recovery are slim, it's not hopeless. It's just that you can't have a second injection. Let's recuperate for a month first."
After Sheng Xue finished speaking, she temporarily used her supernatural abilities to cleanse part of her body and prescribed medicine. After finishing, seeing that they were still there, she frowned and said something to Morse.
"Morse, take them away, don't delay the people behind you from seeing the doctor."
When the couple came out, they were still in a daze, never expecting it to happen so quickly. Although they still wanted to ask some questions, they first took the medicine as Sheng Xue had arranged.
Vivian was most aware of her own body and clearly noticed the subtle changes within it. This did not make her happy; instead, her heart sank little by little.
What the doctor said was true; Vincent's mother really refused to let her get pregnant with Vincent's child, preferring to resort to such methods.
Vincent knew Vivian well; seeing her expression, he knew the doctor's words seemed to be true—anger, shame, and guilt all surfaced.
With a gloomy face, he reached out and took his wife's hand. "I will investigate this matter thoroughly. I just want to stay here and recuperate for a while."
Vivian still trusted Vincent completely. Before either of them could say anything, Vincent's mother sent a video to contact them. After a few seconds of silence, Vincent finally activated his ability ring.
"Mother."
"Vincent, what are you and Vivian doing? It took so long to get through. Are you two alright on that little planet? You must have encountered no problems, right?"
Vincent's mother looked around their residence and frowned in displeasure. "How could they let you live in a place like this? Are they trying to treat you badly? I never agreed with you going to such a remote place and having contact with those inferior humans from the beginning."
“Mother!” Vincent snapped, stopping her from saying anything more offensive.
Startled by his harsh words, Vincent's mother took a deep breath, suppressing her anger. "Vincent, did I say something wrong? What good will it do you to deal with these people?"
"It was one thing for you to play with that kid from that remote planet at school, and then you even spent resources to help him. Now you're going too far, wanting to provide targeted poverty alleviation? Vincent, what are you doing now? Is this what the next head of the family should be doing?"
"Forget it, I don't want to talk to you about this anymore. How long do you plan to stay there? You should come back as soon as possible. This remote little planet is not safe."
Vincent took Vivian's hand and casually mentioned, "Mother, we may not be able to go back for a while. Vivian has been diagnosed with pregnancy, so we won't be going back for the time being. We'll return to the main planet once the baby's condition has stabilized."
"What?! How is this possible?!" The elegant and dignified woman opposite her stood up instantly.
Vivian was initially surprised, but quickly agreed with Vincent's statement, "Why is it impossible? We've been trying to conceive for twenty years, so it would be perfectly normal if we did have a child, right?"
Seeing Vivian holding Vincent's arm, Vincent's mother was horrified. She knew, she must know! This fox was truly cunning, having kept quiet all this time, pretending not to know so that she could lower her guard!
Now they deliberately took Vincent to such a remote place to make sure she couldn't reach out before telling her about the pregnancy. Even if she wanted to do something, she couldn't now!
Moreover, it seems they have no intention of returning anytime soon. Vincent's mother doesn't seem to feel any joy at the prospect of them having a child, but she is very good at hiding her emotions.
She quickly composed herself and put on a smile: "You're having a baby? That's great news! When are you planning to come back?"
“This child can’t be born in a small place. You should come back as soon as possible. The medical care on the main planet is definitely better than in a small place. Vincent, you’ve always valued Vivian, so you should come back soon.”
Vincent's smile didn't reach his eyes. "Of course, Mother, we'll come back once Vivian's condition stabilizes."
After chatting for a few more minutes, Vincent hung up the phone and immediately sent a message to his subordinates, instructing them to thoroughly investigate what had happened.
Vivian was in low spirits. Even though she had digested her food, she still had no appetite. Vincent stayed with her for two days, feeling dejected, before the two of them finally left the room again.
Lu Yize learned a lot about the Federation from Vincent, including the eight major families and the Federation's current system. Also, Vincent had participated in the Superpower Competition and achieved good results.
The rewards from the Superpower Competition are rare finds for ordinary people, so as long as your superpower level meets the requirements, you should participate in order to try and get some good stuff.
During their casual conversation, Vincent also mentioned the matter of adding more passageways to Lu Yize's schedule. They had originally agreed on a total of ten spatial passageways, but in Vincent's current opinion, ten was far too few.
"Then which ones do you think would be suitable?" Lu Yize asked him, clearly revealing that he was also interested in the matter, but the specifics would depend on Vincent's sincerity.
Vincent knew that now that these channels were established, there was absolutely no worry about sales. For every unit sold, he would receive a 1% profit. Therefore…
Vincent made a mental estimate, then stretched out his hand, "I'll add ten more. To be honest, if I could, I'd like to add dozens more, but each planet is divided into different levels, and there are limits on the number of passages that can be built. Your planet can only provide a maximum of twenty passages."
"However, if you stand out in the Superpower Competition, you can change your registered ranking in the Federation. As your ranking increases, the authority granted to your planet will continue to grow."
“These channels are one thing, but there are also various other restrictions. Wherever Federation technology is used, there will be an upper limit, so you'd better be able to get on the Federation's radar in the Federation’s Superpower Competition.”
Lu Yize wasn't in a hurry. Twenty spatial passages were more than enough. He hadn't even expected Vincent to be willing to give him so many passage permissions.
