Chapter 509 Julia Smith
Chapter 509 Julia Smith
In the third week of becoming the instructor of "Send You Home", Musa began to frequently go in and out of activity classroom 1206.
Normal teachers have their own workstations, but Musa did not apply for one. Her life was stagnant, and she had few things that belonged to her. It seemed that she was still drifting.
She had no home outside of Rainier. She no longer gave emotionally to the outside world.
She seemed to have walked out of Lanier, but also seemed to be still in the cage.
But she began to reassess the world.
She applied for an office at the Academy of Atavism, she accepted the invitations of Abel and Garcia, and on a cold evening, she stood outside the classroom of Brown School and said to Mia, the half-blood succubus teacher, "I'm here to pick up Yalinxiu."
Mia looked at her, squatted down and asked Yalinxiu.
"A new teacher?"
Yalinxiu nodded.
"You've seen Musa. She's at my house."
Family.
Musa remembered that she had a house in Remiaz, which had never been renovated and was empty except for a bed. She usually lived in the staff dormitory.
She held Yalinxiu's hand and said "thank you" without any preparation.
Yalinxiu looked up at her.
The sunset glow was cold and the wind had broken the branches of trees. It was completely winter now, except for the lack of glistening snow.
Musa's hands were not soft, but very dry. The warmth was like the crackling sound of burning firewood, which made people feel at ease.
"Teacher Musa, Brown School is very good."
"I feel so too."
"If Loretta doesn't want to stay at Rainier, she can go to school with me."
"Is that what Loretta said?"
"She didn't say it, but Teacher Musa, you don't like Lanier. You never talk much at Lanier."
Musa was silent for a while, then she spoke.
"There's a lot to think about at Rainier. I have to be very vigilant at Rainier because I need to protect Loretta and Valerie. There are a lot of cunning schemes in politics, and I'm exhausted at Rainier."
"I see. Then, Teacher Musa, will you feel more relaxed in Abesgar?"
Musa nodded.
"It will be easier."
"But you still aren't living your life seriously, Altaïr said. You seem to be atoning for your sins. But Lanier's female eagle is innocent."
Musa hummed, and she stopped talking, just listening to Yalinxiu talk.
They are going to Lanier again the day after tomorrow. Yalinxiu asked Musa to explain to Loretta why she couldn't go to Futsu to play with her.
"...Femei'o and Altair will help Loretta. We have made a very detailed plan together. I'm going to France to see Shanna."
Musa knew.
Irene moved a desk into room 1206. These days, she works in the "Send You Home" activity room. She heard the conversations at "Send You Home" and knew the devilish, grumpy old female eagle.
She knew Shanna had clipped her son's wings.
Mothers have that power.
"...Musha, are you listening to me?"
Musa came back to her senses, she lowered her head and looked at Yalinxiu apologetically.
"No. What did you say?"
"I say, you need to have a good talk with Loretta. About Percilla, about your choice, and how much you love her.
Loretta and I met Percilla. Loretta really hates Percilla. She thinks Percilla hurt you, and she wants to protect you.
Musa found it difficult to even blink. She remained silent, with charcoal stuck in her throat.
It was hard for her to define the emotion. She felt…guilty towards Loretta. Guilty towards Percilla, too.
She clearly has no regrets. Every move she makes is carefully considered, and no matter how many times she has to do it again, she will still make the same choice.
“…If Percilla wanted to clip my wings, I wouldn’t hate her.
She made me fly out of Rainier, and I should have returned sooner. I know she was miserable at Rainier; my father died young, and she never remarried. She wanted the best for me. Before I went to school, I didn't know the difference between a male and female eagle.
I have been training. She supports me and said that since it is my choice, she believes I can make it to the end.
"You are stronger than any eagle. Musa, I believe in you. You just need to train, and I will take care of all the rest."
she said so.
I won a lot of games. No matter what they did, I would win. They were scared. They reported me, and the joint administrators put me in jail. It was my mother who broke me out of jail and brought me to France. She told me to leave. She said I would make a difference.
I thought, once I became a Beast Warrior, I'd be able to take my mother away. I wanted all the Eagles to see that my mother's choice was right, that she was great. She gave everything for me. She loved me. She had loved me. It was me who made her wait too long.
Even if she doesn’t love me now—I just want to know why.”
Yalinxiu held Musa's hand, looking at her, sensing her pain. Musa's emotional response was dull, and she struggled to react quickly. Consequently, many fatal injuries hadn't directly pierced her heart, allowing her to maintain the courage to start over after enduring so many tragedies. But when she finally understood, the emotional backlash was heavy.
She didn't complain. She was just confused and kept trying to find an answer.
"Teacher Musa, tell Loretta this. Then, you can find the answer to this question together."
Yalinxiu exhaled.
The white mist dissipated in the air, and Yalinxiu's face turned a little red due to the wind.
Yalinxiu asked Musa what her plan was.
"When Franche becomes king, and when Rainier becomes the female eagle ruling the country, will you bring Loretta and Valerie to Remiaz?
Garcia said you have a house in Remiaz. If you want to renovate your place, he'd like to help. Garcia's house was recently renovated. Musa, is your house big enough? Can it accommodate a lot of people?
Yalinxiu had too many questions, so Musa picked the ones closest to her and answered them.
"That house... isn't very big. It has four livable rooms and a living room. I don't know why I bought that house. I rarely live there."
Yalinxiu knew why Musa had bought that house. The four livable rooms corresponded to Musa, Valerie, Loretta, and Persila.
Exactly four.
This is the perfect family configuration in Musa’s mind.
Yalinxiu rubbed her cold face. Her voice was a little unclear.
"...Ms. Musa, I will help."
"Thank you, Yalinxiu."
"Don't you ask me why?"
"Isn't it to help Loretta complete her plan?"
"No. I'm helping you decorate your new home."
-
The dean's office is simply decorated.
Compared to the luxurious office of the chairman, the dean's office looks very shabby.
The mottled desks, the uneven floors, the brooms in the corners and the pens wrapped with tape all demonstrate the frugality of Julia Smith, dean of the Abersig School.
Nolvia sat on a creaky chair and carefully observed the dean's office.
This is her first time here.
Julia Smith, the dean of Abersgård, is a somewhat mysterious figure. Under the strong actions of the chairman of the board, Valerio Smith, Julia's presence has been downplayed.
People either didn't understand her or looked down on her, but Julia sat firmly in the position of dean, without arguing or showing up.
Norvia often saw Valerio, but she rarely heard him mention his aunt. She didn't have a deep impression of the dean. She had heard his speeches and remembered him as a very rational and seemingly kind bard.
However, Liz Daruk, the head of the Wood Magic Court, also looked weak.
Judging people by their appearance is the easiest mistake to make.
The door of the dean's office was pushed open.
Nolvia stood up upon hearing the voice, her eyes following the middle-aged woman who came in.
The same brown hair as Valerio-sensei, and gray, misty eyes.
When Julia smiled, even the fine lines at the corners of her eyes appeared peaceful.
She said, "Hello, Nolvia Leary, I'm Julia, is there anything you need from me?"
Norvia wasn't surprised that Julia knew about her. She had heard from Suha that Teacher Valerio had a good relationship with his aunt.
She wanted to ensure that the college league's venue wasn't in the northern continent. However, she couldn't contact Valerio, so Suha, acting chairman, should be able to get some information.
But when she found Suha, Suha spread his hands helplessly.
"I don't know. Although these are usually the chairman's responsibility, the situation is different now. I know Valerio will come back, but others don't think so.
They always try to reduce Valerio's power whenever possible. They're afraid of Valerio. But unfortunately, they're not afraid of me. We didn't apply for the position at Abersgård through the normal procedures, so they don't recognize me as the interim chairman.
Julia took over many of the tasks that originally belonged to Valerio. I don't know whether she trusts us but is afraid that those old-fashioned people will slowly erode Valerio's power, or whether she thinks we will take advantage of Valerio's protection and do whatever we want.
Julia is in charge of matters related to the college league, Nolvia, you should go to Julia."
Nolvia comes to see Julia.
Julia looked a bit like Teacher Valerio, but when she smiled, she didn't give people any sense of intimacy. Norvia knew that Julia was gentle, but she also knew that when Julia was not gentle, she would definitely be more ruthless than Teacher Valerio.
Julia's ability to secure her position as dean as a bard wasn't due to Valerio as the chairman. With just one of them, Abersgar would remain in peace.
This is double insurance.
"Dean Julia, do you know where Teacher Valerio is?"
Nolvia asked. The moment she saw Julia, she knew that no matter what she asked, she would not get a definite answer.
Julia first put the documents in her hand on her desk, then she turned and smiled at Nolvia.
"Don't worry about him. He knows what he's doing. Norvia, I've often heard about you from Valerio, and sure enough, you're pretty much like he described you.
I know you didn't come here to ask Valerio, but I can't answer what you want to ask."
