Chapter 455 - 456: Koala Mink
Chapter 455 - 456: Koala Mink
Inside the human auction house.
A bunch of wealthy nobles were shouting out bids. Ever since Fish-Man Island fell under the protection of the Hell Pirates, slave catchers had a much harder time nabbing large numbers of mermaids or fish-men!
But there were still some desperate fools out there capturing fish-men to sell, especially now with thousands of them living in Hell Pirates territory.
Some were even dragged back from the New World for auction. The numbers were low, but it still happened.
"Today we’ve got an extremely rare Mink? Too bad, though—I hear Saint Chalm is here for this one. Looks like we’ve got no shot!"
One noble grumbled, full of regret. He’d heard it was a female koala Mink, and she looked pretty cute!
Before long, the koala Mink was dragged onstage. She stared in terror at the laughing, cheering humans.
She struggled desperately, trying to break free from the explosive collar around her neck and wrists. These collars could even zap you with electricity, but for a Mink who could wield electro in battle, that little shock was nothing!
"Gahaha, she’s mine! I’ll bid one hundred million Belly!!"
The filthy rich Celestial Dragon, Saint Chalm, threw out an insane price without a care. A regular Mink usually went for one million to ten million Belly, depending on gender, tribe, and looks.
But ten million was the top tier—even mermaids fetched that much. Yet Saint Chalm opened with a hundred million.
To Celestial Dragons, money was just worthless paper!
"Any higher bids? Going once, twice, three times—sold!!"
The auctioneer yelled excitedly. They’d bought her from the slavers for just three million Belly—flipping her for dozens of times that was a massive win!
"I’ll bid ten... Belly for this Celestial Dragon’s worthless life!!!"
A voice suddenly echoed through the auction hall, silencing everyone in an instant!
"You filthy peasant, how dare you insult me? Guards, guards—seize him! This saint will kill him personally!!"
Saint Chalm roared in fury. Some pirate actually had the guts to defy him!
"Hmph! Just a pig, nothing more!!"
Ibadonbo swelled with pride as he saw all the nobles and merchants staring at him in fear. Especially with reporters snapping his picture—he puffed out his chest even more!
After today, he’d be the next big name after Brook and Redfield—the hero who took down a Celestial Dragon!
"Run! A pirate’s attacking the Celestial Dragon!"
The whole auction house erupted into chaos. Guards from the auction and the Celestial Dragon’s entourage charged out, rushing toward Ibadonbo.
"Haha! I’m gonna slaughter you all today!!"
Ibadonbo’s hands hardened with Armament Haki as he led the charge against the guards. His elite pirates behind him had no choice but to draw their blades and follow their captain into the fray—attacking the World Nobles, the Celestial Dragons!
A few CP agents teamed up to block Ibadonbo’s ferocious assault. They’d mastered the Rokushiki, but without Haki boosting them, they were quickly sent flying!
The Celestial Dragon’s butler had already dialed Navy Headquarters on the Den Den Mushi, screaming at the Navy Marshal about the pirate attack on the Celestial Dragon—demanding an Admiral be sent immediately!
His arrogant tone pissed off Fleet Admiral Kurotaka a bit, but he still dispatched Kong. The Celestial Dragons’ safety was crucial!
They couldn’t afford another incident like a Celestial Dragon dying!
"Boss, we gotta wrap this up quick—we can’t wait around!!!"
One of the elite pirates reminded the bloodthirsty Ibadonbo. Their target was the Celestial Dragon, not these guards!
The butler dragged Saint Chalm’s fat body desperately out of the human auction house, while the Celestial Dragon kept firing wildly at Ibadonbo with his golden pistol!
But his aim was trash—not a single hit. And Ibadonbo, master of both types of Haki, wasn’t fazed by the bullets anyway.
Thanks to Saint Chalm’s reckless shooting, he ended up hitting several of his own guards. Even a CP agent’s back took a bullet—if not for Tekkai, he might’ve died at his own master’s hands instead of the enemy’s.
But they didn’t dare complain. Even if their master shot them dead, they’d just have to accept it!
Luckily, the butler finally hauled Saint Chalm out of the auction house, stopping the friendly fire from behind.
Ibadonbo powered through the suicidal guards and chased after them. If this dragged on, he might not complete his mission!
...
Backstage at the auction house, shadows coalesced into a black-haired woman. The koala Mink, who’d just escaped the chaos and fled back here, jumped in fright at the sudden appearance of this human woman!
"Yo ho, there really is a Mink? Hey, your home, Zou Island—it’s not really on the back of a elephant that’s tens of thousands of meters tall, is it?"
Shakky recalled her old argument with Brook. A thirty-thousand-meter elephant? Tell that to a ghost—they wouldn’t believe it!
"You know about Zou Island?"
The koala Mink eyed Shakky warily. Right now, she hated and distrusted all humans. She just wanted to escape human society and return to the peaceful, furry kingdom!
"It’s real? So, you planning to head back?"
Shakky asked curiously. Brook was out there searching for the Elephant’s exact location, right?
If she helped him find the way to Zou Island, maybe he’d forgive her dumb argument?
"Despicable human! I’ll never betray Zou Island—even if it kills me!!"
The koala Mink swung her fist at the female human. Trying to make her reveal Zou Island’s location so more of her people could be captured? No way!
"Pretty guarded, huh? Hey, if you don’t get that explosive collar off your neck soon, it’s gonna blow!"
Shakky caught the koala Mink’s fist with one hand, saying it casually.
"Ah~ no, I don’t wanna die! I still need to get back to Zou Island and find my mom!"
The koala Mink suddenly broke down sobbing. Why had she been so playful and snuck off the Elephant’s back? She’d only been in human lands for a couple days before slavers caught her and shipped her here for auction!
Snap!
Shakky’s hands turned pitch black, flowing with orange-pink Ryuo Haki, and she crushed the explosive collar in one go.
"I saved you, so now you’re one of my crew. If you wanna die, you’ll have to ask me first—I’ll think about it and decide!"
Shakky hoisted up the crying Mink girl. She seemed kinda dim-witted.
"The Mink will never be slaves! I won’t submit to you!"
The koala Mink looked at Shakky through teary eyes, dead serious!
Thwack!
A hard knuckle rap on the koala Mink’s head, and she crouched down, wailing in pain again.
"Spoils of war don’t get to negotiate. Stick with me, or I’ll boil some water and pluck your fur!"
Shakky growled menacingly. She didn’t have time to waste—she needed to loot the Sabaody Archipelago fast, because a Navy Admiral would be here any minute!
